Vendor Dealbreakers

Without mentioning any vendor names!!

While meeting with potential vendors, were there ever any terms or conditions, weird circumstances, or just plain weirdness that made you not want to deal with that vendor.

I know you brides have some stories.....

Definitely!! One vendor seemed actually rude! It was a photographer/video place who barely answered my questions, was rushing me to sign that day and wouldn't let me watch more than two seconds of a video when I asked. I LOVED their work and they came HIGHLY recommended but I couldn't reconcile the fact that this saleslady would get credit for booking us.
Definite deal breaker.

oo!! i have a good one. i was at a wedding boutique/center where they do several services together. (like photo, video, dj, flowers, etc.) we were talking to a consultant--when the guy who works for the DJ that that center uses came in, and he got into a screaming match with the people that own the place---because their desk was all cluttered--and i guess the bridal center had been leaving crap on it.

the guy from the DJ company was like 'You guys f*cking s*ck and that's why [owner of DJ company] is gonna eventually drop you guys and you'll have to find someone else!'

it was quite awkward--especially when the guy stormed out and the consultant had us sit AT THE VERY SAME DESK that the other guy just biitched about to watch their DJ video.

There was a photographer we met with who were...well a bit full of themselves and I was completely turned off by that. We had an appointment and still waited 30 minutes to meet with someone. They would not guarantee any photographer - it was basically whomever was available that day. Even though the person we met with was extremely nice, when asked if this person would photograph our wedding, the response was something like 'It costs a lot more to have me' (on top of an already high price).

I've heard other people had better experiences with this photographer so maybe we caught someone on a bad day.

one of the halls we went to and almost signed was extremely rude to us and then we all got sick at the tasting! that was definitely a dealbreaker!!

I went to a hall that I was so excited to see and felt like it was 'the place' and the girl was late for the appt. When we got there, the place was closed and no one was there. Then the BM practically got in an argument with me when I asked why I some advertisements that I read were different than what she was saying...like the price being higher and the fact that they advertised that they didn't have a site fee and she said they did. Her whole attitude sucked, and it was disappointing.........but, we ultimately found a place we are much happier with!

I was at a bridal botique getting fitted for a BM dress for my friend's wedding. I had considered looking for my dress at this place as well. As I'm waiting for the girl to take my measurments, there was another bride with her whole BP there. From what I overheard, her wedding was in a week. Well, the FG was supposed to wear a shawl that connected in the back. It was obviously way too big. The bride was trying to stay calm and ask how they could fix the shawl problem. The woman at the bridal botique was so incredibly bi**hy to her though. The worker basically said 'it's not my problem' and 'deal with it' to this bride. I felt horrible for her. Besides picking up my BM dress, I will NEVER go into that store again!

I just really disliked halls who treated me like they did not have the time to answer the questions I had. I do ask a lot of questions but come on, you don't need to be rude about it!

Yup I met with a DJ serious attitude, he could have been the best DJ on the planet and well recommended he was not gettting a dime of my money he was way toooooooo cocky.

I met with a photographer and actually WALKED OUT. When I said my budget was $4k for photo AND video (I didn't need albums), he LAUGHED IN MY FACE!!! He said 'Honey, you're at the wrong studio. You need to check out a weddng center (he said it as if it was a dirty word)' I got up and walked out, right then and there.

Another photog kept repeating that he doesn't accept 'must take lists' because he's a professsssional and he's been at it for Xnumber of yearrrrs, blah blah blah. My FH couldn't stand him.

Another photog turned me off when I asked to make an appt, and he wanted to come to my house....he normally works out of his own house, but 'his wife was too busy at work and couldn't clean up', so he was too embarassed to have people over.

Are you kidding me?!?!

Went to a catering hall and the place smelled of dirty bar. You know like the morning after?

Horrible..we couldn't wait to get out but a friend recommended us and we were trying to stick it out.

Well this Ant - I am not keeping the fact the fact that I am a groom a mystery - LOL!

Anway - deal breakers...

BAD sales people. I am in sales. I understand that when people are spending money they want to ensure they are buying the right item or service. If the salesman is crappy, I cannot buy the product. Also in this categroy are the 'super sales' people who jut come off as phony and looking for your money. Louise at ADA was a great saleswomen. She took the time to help us plan the day and get things organized. She is a GREAT salesperson. In fact Louise was the ONLY photgrapher to really help plan the day and take the time to figure us out. She also got our business.

Too many packages: I hate trying to figure things out in regards to packages. Show me a few packages and then lets customize it. I do not need to look at 12 packages and try to figure things out.

Not returning calls, emails or doing what you said you will do. This is an issue we are having right now. If we are spending 'X' amount of thosands of dollars, we want a call back etc. We are doing this for the first and only time. I am not afraid to change my mind even if I book. There is nothing worse then feeling that they got my money and signature so now I am thrown to the back burner and forgotten about.

I learned that there is NOTHING cheap in this whole wedding thing. NOTHING! Luckily there are hundreds of people fighting for your business. So each vendor better come with their 'A-Game' or they do not get our business. We want to fell 100% comfortable with every vendor. We want no stress (or added stress) the day of our wedding so we are being picky thus far.

we went to meet with a BM at a hall that we were very interested in and from the moment we got there she was nasty. she made rude comments and just seemed like she didn't want to be there or didn't want to be showing us around.

i was still very interested in the place so i tried to look past that and i was asking different questions about what they can be accomodating on in terms of placement of tables in the room and holding a lot of guests (usual stuff lol) and she would just basically say 'no' to everything. she said everything is as is and they are not moving anything so even STILL i was being polite and said, ok well i guess we can try to work with it the way it is... but the only thing i really didn't like was that they had these two HUGE fake bushes in the most random spot in the room and they looked so cheap--everything else looked so nice so i was like it's just those bushes, i'm assuming you can just wheel those into the storage closet if we don't like them, right? (b/c there was a closet with a ton of room in it she said they use for extra stuff RIGHT THERE... so she's like, well they are very heavy. i'm like well i'm sure you have a hand cart or something?? and she was like they have to stay where they are-- and at that point my FH (who usually never says or cares about anything) had had ENOUGH lol...

he's like listen, you are not going to be accomodating on this... or that... etc, etc. and you seem like you don't even want our business, so why should we book here at this point? and she's like 'i don't know what you want me to sell you, this place sells itself (not quite lol), it's the second highest point on Long Island you know' so my FH goes 'oh what's the first? the garbage dump next door??' (there was a huge landfill next door that was visible from where we were LOL) and i wasn't going to say anything about it but once she was so rude my FH let it rip hahaha!!!

we were like, thanks so much for your time and left and she had NOTHING (for the first time) to say at that point, she was just like this

FH was proud of himself after that hahaa b/c he put the biggest biotch we have ever met right in her place LOL
