oh I just love how they shooed me away because my wedding (at that time) was 2 years away......
oh well their loss![]()
yes yes yes!!!! this happened to us a TON of times!! omg one time when i went to go look at a gown... i mean, i know i'm very early but i WAS looking to buy and just keep it in storage until my wedding and she was like you can't buy for 07 NOW and ROLLED HER EYES AT ME... and i have a temper so no no no!!! so i went over to another girl in the salon and asked her for help and she was like oh i thought 'so and so' was helping you? and i'm like, listen-you seem nice and for 'so and so's' sake and well being-- you had better keep her away from me! she was like OMG okay, okay-- let's look at some gowns then? hahahaha... so i ended up finding the gown i wanted that day, had money in hand and went ON PURPOSE to another place to buy it and i let the manager know it was simply b/c of the one girl and that the other sales lady was nice and was the only saving grace otherwise i would tell everyone i know never to come there but i wasn't going to do that b/c of the one nice girl!
that was fun!

Re: Vendor Dealbreakers
The 1st catering hall we went to couldn't understand why we were looking to book a Sept 07 wedding in October of 05. I made him nervous (his actual words). After telling us their wedding start at $200 per person he basically walked us to the door. Didn't go over the menu because 'you'll have plenty of time for that later'.Needless to say we didn't book but how rude is that!!!!

we went to meet with a BM at a hall that we were very interested in and from the moment we got there she was nasty. she made rude comments and just seemed like she didn't want to be there or didn't want to be showing us around.
i was still very interested in the place so i tried to look past that and i was asking different questions about what they can be accomodating on in terms of placement of tables in the room and holding a lot of guests (usual stuff lol) and she would just basically say 'no' to everything. she said everything is as is and they are not moving anything so even STILL i was being polite and said, ok well i guess we can try to work with it the way it is... but the only thing i really didn't like was that they had these two HUGE fake bushes in the most random spot in the room and they looked so cheap--everything else looked so nice so i was like it's just those bushes, i'm assuming you can just wheel those into the storage closet if we don't like them, right? (b/c there was a closet with a ton of room in it she said they use for extra stuff RIGHT THERE... so she's like, well they are very heavy. i'm like well i'm sure you have a hand cart or something?? and she was like they have to stay where they are-- and at that point my FH (who usually never says or cares about anything) had had ENOUGH lol...
he's like listen, you are not going to be accomodating on this... or that... etc, etc. and you seem like you don't even want our business, so why should we book here at this point? and she's like 'i don't know what you want me to sell you, this place sells itself (not quite lol), it's the second highest point on Long Island you know' so my FH goes 'oh what's the first? the garbage dump next door??' (there was a huge landfill next door that was visible from where we were LOL) and i wasn't going to say anything about it but once she was so rude my FH let it rip hahaha!!!
we were like, thanks so much for your time and left and she had NOTHING (for the first time) to say at that point, she was just like this![]()
FH was proud of himself after that hahaa b/c he put the biggest biotch we have ever met right in her place LOL![]()

I had an appointment with a photographer and went with a friend of mine. First it took 45 minutes if waiting cause he had other people there. I had an appointment too!! Then my friend who is also getting married mentioned where her reception was and he said 'I'm the photographer you're gonna get' and proceeded to call her venue to check. I was like Hello, I'm here to see you. Then he was showing us albums and would not let me look through them myself. He stood infront of us and flipped through them.

Re: Vendor Dealbreakers
Me and FI once went to a photographer one night during the week which was like an hour from my house. The guy showed us pictures for 2 1/2 hours!!!!! When he showed us his different albums he would not let us turn the pages, he had to turn them himself and talk about each one for like 5 minutes! Plus it was like sooooo hot in his office we just wanted to get out of there. Then when we were finally saying our good byes (we were literally out the door at this point)...he Insists on showing us one more thing...he had a room filled with awards that he won! He spoke about each award for like 4 minutes each! Now it is like a total of 3 hours we were there and me and FI were exhausted and pissed. Finally we just said we really had to go, and we get in our car and peel out of the street so fast I thought we were going to get a ticket. It was a pretty bad experience.

Re: Vendor Dealbreakers
Oh geez, where do I begin????One photographer who is very popular on here would not shutup the entire meeting. It was so bad that FH and I couldn't think long enough to read the price sheet in front of us!! It was a shame because we really liked his work, but he seriously kept going on and on and claimed how one format was better than the other. FH actually said when we left 'I would have been more than happy to book him if he would have shutup!' I told FH there was no way I could deal with someone like that on my wedding day, I would have to kill! We couldn't escape fast enough.
One hall the BM was very business like. Just naming off stuff and refused to show us any of the rooms. (Granted we were there on a weekend with parties going on, but at least show us some pictures!) They offered a great deal, but it felt too much like a business meeting.
One hall had a horrible musty moldy smell as soon as we walked in. We walked right out.
Another hall, we walked in and there was a small wedding going on. We overheard the groom telling the BM that there were problems. Apparently someone told his best man they had to run a drink tab, when really everyone's drinks were supposed to be paid for. Once we saw that, we walked out.
At my bridal salon, (which I should have walked out on but I was forced into getting my dress here) I encountered rudeness beyond comparison. As soon as I said I wasn't sure I had enough for the deposit for the dress (it was higher than my original budget) the saleswoman threw up her hands and walked away from me and didn't help me out of the dress. Then when it came in, I went to try it on, another woman helped me begrudgingly, and then walked away, not to be found again until I had to ask my friend to find her!!!
As if this wasn't bad enough, they almost ruined my dress. I paid $150 for a hollow to hem which was never done. And I couldn't fight it because I waited too long to pick up my dress.
Ugh I am so glad my dress is out there and I went elsewhere for alterations!!!
One florist who I switched from would not show up for appointments. After the second time, I cancelled. If you don't return calls, I can deal because I know people are busy, and sometimes I'm guilty of the same crime. But not showing up for an appointment that I drove 40 minutes for is not acceptable in my book without so much as a phone call.

Re: Vendor Dealbreakers
Well of course the laughing in my face when I say I am planning a wedding two years in advance as most of use have experienced. Also being rushed out of a RH when I had questions to ask...But the most recent.....FH and I want sliced oranges in our vases for our centerpieces. So after about 10 minutes of a florist explaining to us how he has to charge extra for the labor of slicing the oranges and placing them in the vases, I said 'fine ok I understand. What if we keep the oranges whole?' The florist actually responded by saying it would be the same price! I looked at him and was like 'ok thank you for your time' and left. Don't sit there and explain to me you have to charge me extra because of labor and then when I try to cut out the extra labor for you tell me you have to charge the same price! Ridiculous!

WOW don't you just love these people?
They are working for us, and I think we all need to be strong like this and remember that...

Seriously!! I totally agree we have to stay strong about what we want! It really made me mad that I was willing to compromise about something that I really wanted and the florist was not even willing to lower the price! Oh well for him - no business from me!

Re: Vendor Dealbreakers
Aside from certain halls basically not wanting to give us the time of day, the best one had to be with a particular florist I went to meet with. The funny thing is, this florist is very highly regarded on this site, so it made it that much more surprising. I made an appointment for 7:30pm and showed up at exactly 7:30 with my MOH. We get out of the car, go to open the door, and the door to the florist is locked. I start knocking to no avail. So we wait in the car. At this point, I don't know what to do, so we wait. At 7:45, a car pulls up, 3 people get out and proceed to unlock the door to the florist and walk in. So we get out of the car and I'm like, 'Uh, I had an appointment at 7:30.' The woman says to me, 'Oh, I had to pick my friend up from the train station.' No apology. No 'Sorry I'm late.' Nothing. So I said thanks but no thanks. Nervy broad.Welcome New Vendors
