In Feb, I found my dress!! How exciting, right? Since I'm not getting married until Aug, 2009, they told me at Lillettes that I didn't need to order it right away and I should just leave $500 to hold the order and they would call in Aug, or Sept to measure me and I would put the remaining deposit of $3500 down...no problem.
Lillettes called me yesterday and said my dress was being discontinued and I needed to come in no later than Monday afternoon to order my dress and I needed the $3500 cash or check.
I've been in NH all weekend so I don't have time to go get measured, not to mention I'm going to Mexico for my bro's wedding and the $3500 cash would really hurt me on such short notice. So I'm devastated that I can't get the dress, but I also lose the $500!!!!!!
Is it just me, or is pretty rotten to give me such short notice to get measured and pay for my dress...in cash!!!!!
*****Update Ladies, thanks for all your support...I think I needed validation for feeling royally screwed!! My mom has offered just to give me the cash and I'm going to leave work early to make it to the store before they close. I feel badly my mom's giving me the $$ since I told her I would pay for my dress; but she's wonderful and since she loved the dress she just wanted me to have it.
You girls were all soooo supportive through my minor crisis, I can’t thank you enough...and I really hope the service improves at Lillettes!!!

Re: Vendor Irritation!!
they should either let you put the money towards another dress,, give it back to you or let you pay off the 3500..this is crazy and i will not be going ther for my dress
I would call back and talk to someone else. That does not sound right.

Re: Vendor Irritation!!
First i would find out why by Monday. when could you go in? Also find out when the shop found out. How could they possibly expect you to pay in full befor ethe damn dress is even in? thats crazy you need to call & speak with them ASAP!

Re: Vendor Irritation...updated!!
you shouldn't have left the $500 down if they aren't ordering the dress till aug. or sept. so i don't know why they told you that.
and they get known about the dress discontinuing about 1 year before it really does happen.
i know i used to work at a bridal dress store.
so they just wanted to make the quick $500 in case you weren't going to either bring the deposit or get another dress from them.
so my advice go there and just keep trying dresses make a mess or go there one day when its full of brides and make a big scene. don't let them keep the 500.

Did you make sure that this dress is being discontinued? I don't know if I am just paranoid but I would always check with the manufacturer and make sure they aren't lying.
