Can someone please help me understand why a vendor, who will be working from say, 7pm-12pm needs a full dinner meal? Can't they eat before they get to work or bring their own, like any other person who works? I can't get a decent size band because of this!!! And then to 'tip' on top of the cost and the meal.....I'm in the wrong business.

Re: Vendor Meals?
MOST catering halls won't allow vendors to bring in outside food, so they really have no choice in the matter. Plus, most halls give you 1/2 off vender meals and it counts toward your minimum. I wouldnt think twice about feeding any of my vendors. They're providing me with a great service, and I'm happy to provide them with a chicken cordon bleu in addition to their fee.

****, Im coming to your job girl
it does help and its a nice gesture considering i spend alot on commuting here. BUT again it comes back to the same reason as i said above, we are GIVEN lunch bc of one reason...people NEED to be here in the office and its done simply so people dont leave to go get lunch
Quite a few offices in Manhattan do this for the reason you stated above. I think it's a great idea. As for paying for our vendors to eat....I know that these people are working on the most important day of my life, I want them fueled up with great food!!! LOL!

Re: Vendor Meals?
Our band is a house vendor so we don't have to pay for them (their meals are free). For other vendors (photo/video) we pay 1/2 price a plate. I'm glad we loved a house band because it's saving us a lot of $$$.
We're feeding our vendors but does anyone know what they actually get to eat?

I agree that the vendors should eat, but I also think that the RH hall should do a little better then just 1/2 price. That's still a pretty expensive dinner. I worked in a very expensive catering hall and we never even served the vendors the same food as the wedding. They always got something that the chef had lying around that night. Some people were paying $100 for their vendor to eat left over pasta.

Do you mean 7pm -12am? YEs they are people too!!! They deserve to eat. If my vendor is there for an hour, they will still get to eat and a tip on top of that

Good point, but I'd rather give them an entire roasted chicken from Walbaums for 6.99, then a quarter chicken with some sauce on it for 80 bucks Oh well, I'll have to suck it up

Re: Vendor Meals?
The contract for my videographer states that he and his assistant will be allowed to eat at the Coctail Hour, which is fine with me...that might be a way out of giving them a full meal, maybe have them come early to eat at the cotail hour?

well photographers and videographers are with you from morning or afternoon from when you are getting ready so they would be there already. But yeah CH is a good time for them to eat, especially if the bride and groom attend CH to greet their guests...hmmm i am not sure if i'll be able to make CH so they'll probably be with me taking pictures at a different location and filming it.

I'm feeding them all...I'm not inluding them in my headcount or anything. I'm positive a few people won't make it.
