So we are given the option of paying for the band's meals. It would amount to about 350$.
While we have the money to do so, it would be money we could put towards something else. At the same time I dont want the perforamce to be compromised because we didnt provide them with food.
The band leader did tell us that in the event food is not provided the band is notified to make other arrangements and bring their own.

I would supply them with meals.. This way you can make sure that the timing of their meals and dinner matches up, and also, I would be nervous not providing them with food. The music can really kill a wedding if it's bad and who knows if they will be insulted by having to bring their own food.. It probably wouldn't be the case and it they probably have to bring food all the time, but I would just want them as happy as possible

I agree - I am giving my vendors food. Its a lot to expect someone to go all hours and eat just a powerbar or something. But I agree, if not then I would give them the money in tips so no real savings!

i would provide them with meals, your other vendors may have it in their contracts, its just one less thing to think about that day

i know its a lot but id feed them. a happy band performs better and Id still tip them the same as if you didn't feed them.

i am in a similar situation and was also told by my band leader that food is not required. Its 15 band members and feeding all of them is a big chunk of change.

I know paying for their meals ***** but its the right thing to do. Plus can you imagine them bringing their owned brown bagged dinner at your wedding. I would look weird! Thats just my opinion

Definitely feed them. I use to work as a bartender for a catering service and when the host actually budgeted in meals for the staff it really was very much appreciated. Its really hard to work all day/night without being fed and odds are if you don't feed them they really wont eat ( i know I'd be uncomfortable about bringing more then a power bar or something).

You really should feed them. I'm not totally crazy about it either but it just seems like the right thing to do. You want the band to do their best for you and they might be offended if you don't provide meals.

for us, house vendors are free....other ones are 1/2 price..

Personally, I think it's wrong to not feed the vendors. I used to work for a photography studio in Long Island and I had a couple of weddings when they didn't feed us a thing/notify us that we weren't getting fed and I went a 14 hour day on a granola bar and water - not fun.

I am feeding all my vendors (we already budgeted for it) but as for them eating a brown bag or during CH...IMO I do not want to see them eating during the CH with my guests..it just seems weird to me
But who knows maybe they do eat during the CH anyway

yeaaaa i would just feed them. I agree that it would just be easier that way when it comes to timing and such, and also i think it's just the right thing to do.......does your RH give a discount for vendor meals? mine does 50% off....
