Vendor rant :( thumbs down!

Original post by Gonnacatchapeacock

In my effort to shop for a makeup artist I came across a LIW makeup artist who I found to be extremely unfair.

I contacted her in early November stating that I would like to have a trial. She responded to me that she was booked and had a 'very large bridal party'.

About a week ago I see my date twin has a trial set up with her for this week (Posted)! So I emailed this makeup artist telling her that what she did was not right, that she should have let me known since I have contacted her first.

She tells me that the bride is very excited and cannot cancel on her. The date is now booked and I feel extremely slighted.
I have researched her and saw many faces on here that I loved and expressed the UTMOST interest upon contacting her in early November for her services.

A bit of bad luck?? possible. A bit of scattered brains on her part? most likely.

I just really feel slighted by this woman, who cannot even spell my name right when responding in email. very very scattered brains.

Maybe I am lucky to have learned about her this way, rather than booking her and having her 'scattered-brains' ways impacting the big day.

Hmm. Well it's possible that she had a waiting list and the next person in line was able to book her.

I think a more detailed explanation is in order, before giving her a bad name.

I know when I first called Oksana, she was booked. But a few months later she called me and said that the pervious person cancelled. I was then able to book her.

You situation may have been similar.

well said cubanbride. i'd hate to blacklist a vendor on the basis of miscommunication.

It could be you and your date twin are getting ready at different times and her schedule worked better with the make up person's schedule.

It could come down to what time you are both getting ready, party size, and distance she needs to travel.

I know I had an easier time b/c I was local, getting married very early and had a small bridal party - so my make up artist was able to leave my place and do another morning wedding.

People make mistakes. I had several vendors I did not go with due to lack of organization. One guy overslept for an appointment because he had been filming a wedding until all hours and wanted to reschedule. Honest mistake, but I didn't feel someone who had trouble organizing himself to get up was going to be a trusted vendor! I just didn't use him, but I didn't bash him.

I'm a firm believer that 'everything happens for a reason'. I get sick of hearing it, but I think it does.

I am sure you will find someone who will do a wonderful job for you and you will have more confidence in them then you would in this other one

I, too, am in the process of setting up appointments and would appreciate it if you could FM me the name of the artist. I agree with those who have said everything happens for a reason. Just keep your head up and keep looking!

Me and my date twin are getting ready for the same time of day.

Most of the vendors I have spoken with have written down at least my name and number on their calendar in case of anything.

The fact that I found out about this on someone elses post made me feel horrible.

Perhaps someone who is too busy to keep track of interested clients is maybe too too busy and it's only a matter of time before another 'oops' happens.

I know people are human. Her responses were not that friendly nor apologetic!
She's like 'well I cannot accomodate you at this time as my services are booked and I have a very large bridal party....'

After talking to some people (especially all the great support from you guys) I'm getting over it. This was really my first encounter with a vendor who made me upset. Had a second one this week too LOL.....whatever.....the right person and I will connect and there will be respect and patience not a rush rush rush situation where if you don't respond in 8 hours you lose out :(
