Awe so sorry, that stinks, hopefully shell come around. if she doesn't or if you end up going to PR I went a few years back with my mom and her friend who are not beach people. We rented a car and saw the entire country, there was tons to do off the resorts that was not beach related. But I totally agree you only get one honeymoon and it should be the one you want not what your fmil wants for you. Hope everything works out!!

VENT FMIL Headaches over Honeymoon
So sorry to hear that!!!! Your FH can totally get a passport in time. I would do exactly what you did, and nicely reject the offer. Do what YOU want for your honeymoon!

Holy crap...I'm sorry you are going through that sweetie...
I kinda agree with your idea about politely saying you decided on other plans cuz it looks like things are getting hairy fast...
like it or not she is your FMIL and she isn't going anywhere so I can only say try not to fight...
Try to keep things as civil as possible but maybe have your husband talk to her and you stay out of it...the last thing you need is a big fight before your wedding...thats not a good way to start your lives together...
botom line, if she is going to TELL you where to go for your honeymoon then that is stress you don't need to deal with...
Again, I'm sorry

THIS!!!
I too am SO sorry you have to deal with this... You should have the honeymoon YOU want.
I get the impression that you're not buying her passport story, but just to be certain: FH and I just got to take a vacation. He needed a passport and got it in less than a month! He had never had one before and we didn't even expedite the process--we were told we wouldn't need to and we definitely didn't. And you can tell her I said so.

All I have to say is people have some pair of Balls. You did the right thing by rejecting the offer. You can't give a gift with stipulations... than its NOT A GIFT. Its your honeymoon, do as you both wish. You can always go sit on the beach at a resort any other time.
