VENT hair people

where do these people get off charging more for hair day of b/c you are the bride? i can understand that you have a veil and tiara and all that, but i do not have any of that. for a veil i am using a blusher in the back of my head. i am not getting an updo, but half up and half down and i dont even have that much hair!

and all the prices i am getting quoted are 150

Hmmm, I would keep looking, my hair is going to be $90 for a half up and they are traveling to me. $150 sounds like a lot to me.

I am more surprised at how expensive make-up is!!! It's more than my hair!!!

Because they spend the most amount of time making sure you hair is absolutely perfect and will stay that way for the entire day....

it isn't easy by any means...

IMO 150 was worth it...

You want to go cheaper you just might get cheaper work...JMO

Would you rather be happy on your wedding day or worrying about how this hair is falling out and that one isn't curled...

Thats it......they hear BRIDE and the price goes up!!

I have been getting quotes for $125 for me and $65 for my BM and they are all getting there hair up and I am getting my hair half up and half down.

sickening isnt it (that they hear the word 'bride' and the price goes up)?

It's not just hair, it's the make-up and the limo and the catering hall and photographers and just about everything else.

Weddings are so expensive because all the prices are triple the normal price for any other event!!!

I've been getting the same thing... $150 for hair and $150 for make up... Just insane!!!

I am going to talk to someone in Manhattan who did a friends wedding and will travel to LI for the day and charge substansially less.

Must be an LI Wedding thing... People can just charge what they want to becuase they know that it's important to us and we will end up paying....

UGH!!!!

How often is ANY service less expensive in Manhattan??

seriously...to get make up done for ANYONE the day of, i was quoted $90+...um, now someone tell me how i tell my BMs that their hair will cost 70 but their makeup will be 90?????

im sorry, but paying that much for money doesnt neccessarily guarantee that your hair will be 'perfect'. i have no intentions of mentioning the word 'wedding' when i have my hair done, i will do like i always and that is to make sure that it is to my standards before i hand over my money!

Absolutely! They think us brides are CASH COWS

Totally ridiculous.

Argh, I have to chime in as well, researched on hair and makeup people for the past 2 months and finally decided to hell with it, getting a haircut doesn't cost that much, why should getting hair made up for one day? :P

Same with makeup, it's not like it's permanent makeup. Why should we be paying 100+? I think their needs to be more hair/makeup vendors to bring the cost down!

I'm going with someone who I'm paying 500 to come to me. The cost includes her coming to me to do hair & makeup for me and my MOH, my free trial, and hair OR makeup for my two other bridesmaids. Thank god I got that out of the way.
