Vent, one of my friends...sorry long

Yesterday I got together with one of my friends, which I have known for awhile now and she was planning to have a wedding next year as well, but bc she was too late in looking for a place she had to push it back until 2010. Mind you they got married in City Hall 1 1/2 years ago already.

Anyways, so I am really excited about all the planning I have done so far and dress shopping and stuff and I sent her the link to the website of the hotel where we are planning the wedding and told her what our plans are and she had not a nice thing to say about anything. i got a very negative, almost bitchy vibe from her and it really frustrated me. .
I think our plans are great and they fit whatever we have in mind but she was almost making faces most of the time, kind like: 'Really, thats what you are doing?'. Agghh. For example, we are planning to hire somebody to do the decorations, which is pretty normal for me, especially since we have a destination wedding and again she gave me that look and said, well my mom will do the decorating stuff for us....arrghh.
Also I told her that we have about 300 people that we have to invite, bc FH's family is huge and also the wedding will be in Turkey, where it is very traditionel to have bigger weddings. Actually our friends alone are already 100 people...and again she gave me this look and said well we have between 80 and 100 and I would never want more people there and I would refuse to invite more...i was like Hello you are an only child and they both have small families, so well that works best for her, but I never gave her attitude....

Sorry too long...

I wouldn't let it get to you. Some people are quick to voice their opinion without thinking. I have a friend who keeps telling me stories about her co-worker who recently got arranged. The things that came out of her mouth at first were ridiculous and then when it came down to making the decisions, etc, all of a sudden she was doing some of the things she scoffed at. Take it with a grain of salt and try not to let it upset you. You know what you are doing is right for you and will work out wonderfully.

Ew, thats so frustrating. It's 100% jealousy! Shes mad that shes not having the big wedding everyone is talking about. If you can, just try to not talk to her about it, because you dont need to be made to feel guilty about being excited (IMO). Good luck!

sounds like something more is upsetting her than your wedding plans.... she may be unhappy with her marriage or how planning is going for them and taking it out on you... consider that before you take it personal bc it may have nothing to do with you at all... sry the psychologist is coming out in me...

umm ... sounds like your friends is VERY Jealous of you espeically being that you are getting married and having the reception in Turkey ... I think she is jealous because she is already married but didnt have a reception and now is waiting until 2010. I wouldnt let her get to you ... she just seems miserable and jealous

Funny you should say that because she has made statements like that to me before, like she said yesterday, I feel like I am happy it is one more year away for me bc I am afraid that things will be so final and that at that point she has to accept the reality that she will def. stay here in NY with her hubby ( she is German originally). So you might be right....but she should not rain on my parade...
