Vent ...so want to cry.
This is long, but i so need to get this off my chest.I have been growing my hair since finding out i was pregnant Sept. 2011.
I recently took braids out of my hair showing my hair had grown past my shoulders (thanks pregnancy/breastfeeding hormones). I had a job interview and decide dto go to the place i usually go to in between wearing braids to have my hair wash , blow dry, and flat ironed. My hair came out great, i was happy.
Now usually my hair gets frizzy after a few days but this didnt happen, after two weeks i decised to wet my ahir to get it back curly (most african american women wash every 1-2 weeks). But my hair didnt curl, so after washing my hair 3 more times i realized that the lady must have put a relaxer into my hair.
Never did she sit me down to apply the relax which makes me think she some how confused it with conditioner. Especially since some of my hair looks not to be relaxed, some 1/2 way relaxed and the rest bone straight.
After lots of cry i cut off almost all my hair to start growing it again, as my hair breaks a lot when striaghten. And i refused to go to a salon to pay them $$$ to just cut it all off when i can do it myself (though not a styles cut..i hacked at it with my sewing shears). I will continue to cut off the rest of the relaxer for the next few months until its all gone.
My FH says it will grow back and i know it will but it wont be the length i expected in time for the wedding and i already had my hairstyle picked out to work with my dress. Now i have to pick a new hairstyle once i get closer to the wedding and i know how much hair i will actually have.
I am just so upset becuase the hormones i had wont be there this time around to help my hair grow thicker and long. Everytime i look/touch the 3 inches of hair i have on my head i want to cry.
below are pictures of before.

I don't want this to come off the wrong way because I know the smallest thing to one person can by a huge deal to someone else. However, you already cut the hair off, you can't change it. Just try to come to terms with the fact that your hair won't look how you REALLY want it to, but I'm sure you can figure out another look that will look just as amazing. Take biotin regularly and maybe that will help speed up the process? Also, I know the derm I work for recommends a shampoo to patients to stimulate hair regrowth. I'm not sure how effective it is, it's called Revita. It's a little expensive, but if you're really desperate, give it a try! It'll work out, I promise!

Why not try a extensions or clip ins for the big day. I plan on wearing a little fake hair even though I'm wearing my hair back just to add a little volume. Also you could try the hair and nail vitamin from GNC. I took it for a while, but I get ovarian cysts and it actually promotes growth so I had to stop taking them, but they seemed to work.

I was going to suggest extensions as well! :) I am doing to put in extensions for my wedding too...because, if I were to cut an inch off my hair today, by my wedding which is still 661 days away, my hair would have only grown a half inch...it grows SOOOO slow!!!!i know biotin is a supplement that is great for hair growth! :)

I understand where your coming from. But i just cut it last night after thinking about what would be the healthiest decision for my hair.
I wrote this to help me come to terms. How would you feel if your hair fell out before your wedding and you werent sure it would grow back, its not as easy as saying let me put a wig on. Tears would be shead even if you still end up wearing that wig.

In terms of extensions, i have yet to find a place that sells kinky african american hair.If i was to do extensions i would have to straigent my hair with a relaxer to get it to match.

How short did you actually cut it? You still have over a year until our wedding. Hopefully it will grow some and you'll be able to style it. Personally I would have never cut my own hair and would have seen what the salon could have done.

Hopefully your hair will grow at least 6-8 inches by then if your hair grows at a normal rate! And you have time to figure out what to do, there's always options!

I am obsessed with my hair so I can sympathize, I would freak out if my hair was messed up. But since unfortunately theres nothing you can do to undo it, I think vitamins would be your best bet for now. and pray it grows fast. So sorry that happened to you.
