so last night i was looking over the paperwork for the menu finalization and the breakdown of payments...
and there was a checklist they printed for me of everythign i need by my final appointment..
then it said Maitr'd tip(day of) $450 <~ CIRCLED!
uhmm im not even having 100 people
is this normal? and im thinking.. how DARE they tell ME how much to TIP. 450 for 80 people. ***? no way
did your halls write down how much and circle it?

THAT IS RIDICULOUS!!!!! Give whatever you want, that's what we are doing. I'm not even going to ask and if they tell me, I'm just not doing it!
Don't let the tip for someone upset you (DEF easier said then done)! Enjoy your wedding and if you don't pay the $450 for a tip at the end of the night, honestly, what will they do?

But they did tell me twice that we should tip $3-5/pp.

Mine wasn't circled (i don't think?), but they did stress that they should get what we think they deserve and that it's usually 20%

I chose not to include the Maitre D tip in our package, but they do include if you ask them to.
We got our checklist also and there was a note reminding us to tip the Maitre D, but there was not an amount.

i thought it they gave you an amount pp... not a set amount... and shouldnt tips be based on the quality of service... im all for a standard tip amount at some restaurants... but for something like this id wait until after to decide what the tip is going to be

When we did our contract our hall said MatriD Tip is $4-$5 per person. My dad then said so $450 for 110 people & the guy doing the contract said, yep that sounds about right. To which my dad said okay add it to my contract.
So $450 for 110 people was added to my contract & my parents are paying that as part of the RH cost.
So to answer your question $4-$5 per person is a common request from the hall.

That's about the pp they expected from me, too. I told FH they get what I choose to give them nothing more.
BUT! I was confused! Aren't you supposed to give that the day of the wedding along with all other tips? They are asking for it a week before my wedding when I go for my final meeting. Is this the same for the other JT girls?
ETA: Oh wait, yours says the day of, maybe mine says that, too? I have to look.

i honestly didnt add everything up and i dont think they included it .. it was just CIRCLED under the maitr'd tip.. totally tacky of them!

That's crazy! My hall said $3-$5 per person was the 'suggested' amount. I wouldn't give $450 for less than 100 people!

Oh hell no! We have to guarantee 150 and I'm definitely NOT giving them $850 or $900 on top of everything else! That's crazy. I don't think it's in the actual contract so they can't hold you to it. It's a 'suggested' amount. I already told FH we're not doing it!
