VENTING

VENTING

So I got engaged a little over a month ago and I am a little upset with my best friends..... All I got back from them was a facebook comment that said 'CONGRATS'.....
only one of my friends really acknowledged my engagement and another just came over one day because she was bored....and I guess bought me a card .......
no phone calls .... no nothing....
do i have the right to be upset?

I'd be bummed. My best friend came the day of and everyone else called me. I will say that I called alot of people to tell them so it could be how I let them know.

are they single? maybe they're jealous?

that's a little sad....no phone calls or texts or anything? How did your family acknowledge it?

Well my FH and I have been together forever and it was pretty much like...yay he FINALLY did it, so it kinda wasnt a big deal. I got the Facebook congrats and a few cards...but i wasn't expecting people to call or anything.
Maybe people are expecting a E-party?
I wouldnt worried or stress about it.

Sometimes people might feel awkward going over board for your sake... I know that I made sure not to with certain friends because I didn't want them to think I would automatically expect an invite...

I duno, the other brides are right too though, mucho jealous of you! Just brush it off, make out with FH and live in a happy lil bubble for a few days, you're allowed too!

thanks guys....yea they are single.... the only one who did acknowledge it is married...... it just sucks i would call my friend right away and be soooo happy for them.......
i guess some people just suck....
good thing i wasnt planning on having them in my wedding party ha ha ....just family

'Friends' can be so weird about this stuff. FH and I had a baby first, I can't even tell you how many people I was so close with didn't even send me a msg on FB to say congrats. They all dropped off the face of the earth. Most of them are single though, so I don't really think we are on the same page anymore.
Do I care...at first yes, but I'm over it, and there are a few less people on the guest list at the wedding. That is fine with me!!
It does stink though. Don't let it get to you, your real friends will be happy for you and show it!

I've got a good one.
I called my grandmother to tell her. She answered her phone saying 'what?' and I said 'Hi grams, I called to tell you I just got engaged' her reply was 'ok, so' and I was like (ok she's old maybe she doesn't know it's me ) so 'Grams, it's Karyn, I just got engaged' She says ' I heard you the first time, congrats' I wanted to cry! I'm the oldest granddaughter, you'd think she'd be happy!
Fh's family was great, every aunt and his grandmother who is like 97 yrs old, sent us a card and money. He's the oldest nephew/grandson.
Some people just can't be happy for others.

lol ohhh man grandmas....when i first saw my grandmother after i got engaged she looked at my ring and said it was about time....im 27...really????
than 5 minutes later she told me i was fat lololol

oh man my engagement is really bringing out the 'not so wonderful'people in my life

did you tell them or just updated facebook? because sometimes people don't see it if it's just facebook. half my friends didn't even see when I became official bf/gf with FH lol. we're not even officially engaged yet though because no ring. once we are I'm going to send out massive texts and just go nuts with it and better get responses back lol.

I would be mad, upset then mad again, but I'm like that lol it could be a jealousy thing, do yourself a favor and only be around people who are genuinely happy to share this time with you, if your other friends come around great, if not....Congrats be happy!!!!!!!!! planning will be awesome :

Thats annoying and very upsetting..don't let them ruin your excitement!

I do agree with everyone that it could be jealously. I have to admit I would get so jealous when my friends would get engaged (before I was) but I never thought I was cold or 'unexcited' for them..I just had to keep telling myself that my time would come.

One word...jealous!
One of my bridesmaids hasn't even asked about my wedding in months. I'm getting married in 2 weeks! You'd think she'd atleast ask how everything is going, but I got nothing from her.
