Venting - Wedding Party Gift

Original post by eden

So I gave everyone in my groomsmen party a gift of worth about 50 bucks at the rehearsal dinner.

But for my ringbearer who is my brother's son, I was alot more generous. I gave the boy an evelope with 120 bucks in it. That would cover his $70 tux rental and a $50 cash gift for him...

Well, my brother came up to me today and gave me a receipt for the tux. He didn't realized that I had already paid for the tux rental as part of the 120 cash I already gave. So he was giving it to me to ask for reimbursement. :P

I awkwardly gave him another 50 bucks on top of the 120 I had already given him. He then said oh, the tux rental is actually 70 bucks! :P

Should I mention to him that, um, I already gave his boy a total of 120+50 = 170 for his boy to walk down the aisle?

And the boy had to be bribed to walk down by someone at the other end of the aisle... with skittle candies! :P

thanks, i won't have paid if most of family didn't gang up on me and got upset at me for even thinking about not paying, it's apparently custom in the asian culture to do so...

um yeah it's also a culture for the bride's parents to pay for the reception but did they do it? NO! :P

I can't believe that. He's your brother and he asked you to pay for the Tux on top of that? Yikes!

i did offer to pay, and i gave him the money in the for form of 120 bucks, but i guess he thought the whole 120 bucks is a gift to his son?

:P

Duh!!! sorry but that's a VERY generous gift considering he only walked down the aisle (prompted by skittles candy!!!), i only gave the other bridesmaid and groomsmen a gift worth 60 bucks and they did ALOT more for me. :P

Since it is your brother, I wouldnt think twice about very diplomatically pointing the situation out with the gift.
