Venue Help

Venue Help

Hi,

Has anybody looked for a venue yet? We are looking at July 2014 and loved the Royalton mansion but now we're learning that the Town of North Hempsead bought 7 acres from the Royalton owners and is planning a town park with pool, tennis etc on the former Rosyln Country club site adjoining the Royalton. We want to have our ceremony there in the garden but now I'm worried about hearing 'park noise' or worse, a concert in the park during our ceremony. They expect the park to be completed by summer 2013. We're very disappointed. Thoughts anybody? Should this be a deal breaker?

Re: Venue Help

We booked our venue after looking at about 18 different places. Its a big decision to make. I can understand your concerns about the park noise, I would feel the same. I would keep the Royalton in mind and go look at a few other similar venues, maybe The Woodlands, Westbury Manor, De Seversky or Bourne Mansion. Do you have any other appts anywhere?

Depending on your budget and what kind of place do you like (Marble/Rustic/water front/Mansion/somewhere with a outside area)
Since my wedding is in January, the outside was not a big factor for me but I then the inside had to blow me away and my hall did just that. Also the menu is a big factor as well.

Also if you post on the 2013 board or the Brides helping bride board more ladies will respond. This board is still kinda empty but the 2014 brides are slowly trickling in!

Thanks- we ve looked at several places but nothing else really wowed us. We liked the Estate at East Wind but will also look at some of the other venues you mentioned. Have you booked a venue yet?

Re: Venue Help

Yea we booked at the Sand Castle in Franklin Square. Someone recommended it to me and I never even looked at it online. I wasn't expecting to like it and almost canceled the appointment but we went anyway and the outside isn't anything special but once I walked in I fell in love with the place. Thats why we are getting married in January because I had to either sacrifice the Month we got married in, or the place and so I can deal with the winter if I have it in my favorite venue. I don't know if its your style and I never looked there because it was too far from my house but online Gorgio's looks very nice

I wasn't really looking at mansions, so idk if I'll be much help, but I do know De Seversky caps out at around 150. I called for an appointment there and told them I was expecting 150-175 and the woman I spoke with was set on not being able to accomodate more than 150.

Thanks all-planning to visit other venues but not ruling out the Royalton just yet. Just loved everything about it!

Re: Venue Help

We are having a winter wedding so I don't think I can be much help in terms of location. We only looked at 2 venues and fell in love with the second one. I do know that Majestic Gardens is gorgeous. My sister got married there about 5 years ago and the garden, fountain area was absolutely stunning. She got married in May so the tulips were in bloom, beautiful.

I just looked at Majestic Gardens yesterday. It was just that...MAJESTIC... but, it's a smidge pricey for us. I would love to come up with the extra money because it was THAT gorgeous, but it was also our first venue that we looked at, so there are plenty of other places to check out.
