My wedding is 2+ yr away but I'm looking for venues to visit. My FH and I are big boat people and we have thought of getting married on a boat or beach. I'm also looking at caterers on the water such as Chateau because I'm torn/nervous about a tent, beach, or boat wedding. What about wind and weather? Thats my main concern and I want it to be elegant as well as fun. Any suggestions/ideas/advice? Thank you!!

Just a thought....my venue Water's Edge in Long Island City also does weddings on their yachts (think they own 5 in total that sail on the East River). I'm not sure of pricing but we considered doing a dessert cruise instead of being inside the venue the whole time and the price was pretty reasonable. It sounds pretty amazing.
if ur a boat person i def would get married on a yacht

Don't know where you live or where you're looking to get married, but if you're not opposed to the East End, there are tons of places. Montauk Yacht Club (or any of the country clubs out there, really) would be sophisticated nautical w/ a shore location.

I think waters edge would be perfect!!! yeah you could even do an after party cruise too. If that is too much there are tons of places by the water in LI. Lands end, riviera, pavilion at sunken meadow, venetian, and I think all the Lombardis, harbor club. There are a ton!!!

If you're looking for a small wedding, max 120 or 130, the Northport Yacht Club might be a great fit. They do allow non-members to get married there. If you're looking for something bigger, we're getting married at the Harbor Club in Huntington. It's right on the water and has great views.

Just be careful with a boat/yacht wedding because if it rains, you need a backup plan.

Surf Club! You have the beach and the hall, no need to worry about the weather!! You can do the ceremony on the beach and then reception inside. Your guests can also hang out on the beach during the reception!!

Getting married on a boat is cheap but you have to be weary of people who get sea sick not coming . Ventitian yaght club is gorgeous!

we had our senior prom on one of those boats that sails around the river and it was horrible. definitely not a good choice for a prom let alone a wedding. check out some of the places laura suggested above!

ita i def wouldnt want to attend a wedding on a boat... no offense to anyone who is doing this but i tend to get sea sick and the rocking makes me soo dizzy and unbalanced, plus i don't like not having the option of leaving/arriving whenever i want

The food is the main reason we're booked with Lands End. Loven Oven (the caterers) have delicious food and they don't offer they 'typical wedding food'.
Lands End has a gazebo or the beach to get married on. Very nice place.

We had our reception at the Crescent Beach Club in Bayville. If you choose to get married on site, you can have the ceremony on the beach.

Bayview House at Captain Bill's is gorgeous, it's in Bay Shore!
