OK, so as some of you know, my RH only allows you to use the florist that they want you to use. SUPPOSEDLY. Because my DOC did some detective work and apparently, another bride that is getting married there is using Flowers by Brian ( which is not 1 of the 2 that the RH allows) for their wedding. Flowers by Brian was the one I wanted to use in the first place!!!!!! So now that I am heated and very annoyed and pissy, I have decided with my DOC to meet with Flowers by brian, get my quote and go to the RH and let my daddy and FH deal with them b.c its really not fair! If i have to sign papers I'll even do that! But why would they do that???!!! Its entirely messed up and nerve wrecking!

Thats one of the main reasons i didn't book Glenn Island. We HAD to use one of their florists. Diana Gould or Arcadia. I checked out Arcadia and there prices were reasonable but i heard DG is way overpriced.
My mom even told hte guy that a family friend was doing our flowers as a gift to us and he still said no.
Oh, we went to flowers by brian to check out prices too and the woman said that technically halls aren't allowed to do that and she has worked at the surf club and glenn island in the past.
I'm going to mention that to them...
my hall makes me use their florist and i don't want to so i have avoided booking....if you confirm that, can you post it?

I know....I read that about a month ago on the bottom of my contract and told my brother and he said that's not true....well he has a rude awakening b/c he and I both signed a contract saying that we had to use there recommended florists so I am using Diana Gould who was recommeded by my DOC. I hope you fight for your own florist!
I looked at Surf club and they never said anything to me about having to book with anyone specific. I think its unfair that a rh tells you who to book. I dont blame you for being upset. If you want someone else, you should go for it. No one can tell you who or who not to book.

awww that stinks....well i'm sure they'll have to work something out now that you know about the other bride, they are kinda stumped now.... but let us know how everything works out.

Thats very funny too b/c it wasn't even really discused until I brought it up to them when I saw a posting here. I will be more than happy to let you know the outcome. Normally I wouldn't be in such a huff, but I really don't like that shady nonsense.

It's actually in the contract they make you sign unless you make an agreement prior to signing ...I asked that question as soon as I walked into them because my family is in the flower business and there was no way they were not doin my flowers! Sorry to hear it happened to you...did you sign already?

You know I have to look at the contract. I spoke to my DOC and she suggested to get quotes from Flowers by Brian and Westchester. So whoever has the cheaper price will have to prevail. I mean, in these times, its so hard to find fair pricing you know? I hope they understand. I find out in a few weeks.
The real sad part was I found out about the flower thing on the boards. They could've been more upfront about it. Oh well...

That really does blow...My manager told me that they technically have everyone use their florists as soon as I looked at the place but when i told him no way we ammended the contract before we signed anything!

I actually resolved the issue now lol.. I actually ended up booking westchester. Their price was better than what was expected. However, I don't think halls should do that... Its unfair and really stupid...

me and fh hated when they tie you into vendors but if they do than they shouldnt make an exception for anyone!!!! thats crap then! if they say prefer thats a diff story but to make you sign a contract and then allow someone else to use whomever is seriously frustrating!! i would do the same thing your doing lol!

You have every right to be annoyed...definately call them on it.
You should be allowed to use whoever you want or it should be highlighted in the contract. Thanks for sharing though, we haven't booked a RH yet but I will now def ask them if their vendors are requirements Let us know what happens
