Very Sad

Re: Very Sad

If her dress is that different, she is not even going to look like she is part of the bridal party - does she even realize this? I think you should mention this to her. I also feel you have every right to ask her to step down - maybe have her read something special or greet and seat everyone.

You were nice enough to give the BMs some choice and for her to do that I feel is just too much - that's why I just chose the dress by myself and said if you don't like it, don't be in it.....I'm not a mean person but it's less headache for everyone

I know its easy for me to say, don't sweat it, she will be in so few pix it does not even matter. The one thing you asked of her and she could not honor it, I think it was rude or her and I think rather inconsiderate as well. No one would be in my wedding who did not go along with my plan. I know its late in the game now but let her go as is. I think you should still let her know how you feel. I am sure if the shoe was on the other foot she would not be taking it so lightly. I hope it all works out for you. Let us know what happens.

Re: Very Sad

Im sorry this has happened to you.
I also agree, you were very generous and letting the girls pick outtheir own dresses.
Your MOH should have confirmed with you before ordering the dress.
Dont let this damper the rest of your planning

Re: Very Sad

I haven't been a bride for awhile and I think I am no longer a Newlywed even b/c I'm married over 2 years so I never post over here anymore with my old outdated info but I have to say - your MOH is being so rude and selfish. I'm all for trying to be considerate of others even though it's your wedding and think it's great that you worked out a way of giving your girls a choice but Jeez! She picked an entirely different color????? The material should be the same to look really nice together but even that is not as bad but an entirely different color is just crazy. And not even calling you to discuss it before choosing it shows how little she cares for your opinion on it, almost like she's saying 'that is what I want and that's it' If you had all your BM's in different colors it would not stand out but if she is the only one in a different color, that will be the first thing that catches the eye when you see your pics of the wedding party. And I believe that honor belongs to you as the bride. Wow! talk about self-absorbed! Sorry, I know it's your best friend but that's really selfish. I hope it all works out for you.

Re: Very Sad

This is going to be a bit harsh, but it's honestly how I feel. If I was in your shoes, I think I would tell her to get the dress in the color and material you picked or to step down. I think you've been very reasonable in letting them choose their own styles, and there should be a style that accomodates her pregnancy. I don't think it's unreasonable of you to want your bridal party to have some unity. She should understand that is part of being in a bridal party.

Of course your friendship should be taken into account, but she should understand where you are coming from. That's part of being a good friend. And I understand hormonal issues, but this is your wedding day!

Good luck!

Re: Very Sad

I agree with Farah..I had something very similar happen to me and this particular BM stepped down.
Another thought--since YOU are the bride, can you call the salon and place the order yourself in the colour and fabric YOU decided??

Also, if you wait too long to have this conversation, she might not be able to change or cancel her order. She might be more mad if she spent money and is not even in the wedding.

Re: Very Sad

I feel sorry for you that you have to make this decision. She probably is feeling very insecure about the way she looks right now, and maybe made that decision out of frustration without thinking it through. Maybe there are other dresses out there with the material you want that would look better on her. You may want to talk to her and find out what it was about the material and/or color you wanted that she did not like. You might be able to reach a compromise that you can both deal with.
