I have someone READY to book yourdate.... but I guess business is business unfortunately i am sooooooooo sorry!!! but don't worry tooo much because you are going to find the PERFECT band/dj for your event!!!!

I am soooo sorry to hear that. I would look at the bright side and say maybe this was meant to be and you are supposed to find someone who is 100x better and cheaper.

well girls im very upset and I cant say its not my fault. Alot of you are really great and so helpful but some can be sneaky.... I guess i cant say I blame them. But anyways I have been talking to a band and planning on meeting with them and booking them this fri at their showcase. A few days ago I wrote a post about the band on this wonderful website. well it turns out that the women I have been talking to called me tonight to tell me that my date got booked and that it just so happened that someone read my post on LIweddings and decided to book them....on my date, when they knew i was i nterested! well there isnt much I can do now. Im just really upset. I know its not a big deal and I cant blame them but...this leads to me to my next decision....Im taking abreak from the website. Im not goignto be posting anymore of my information that way this cant happen again. Im sure I will be checking in time from time but I guess this wedding stuff can get pretty serrious soooo yup, NOW I know why people dont post all their information...I guess I just learned the hard way...no more mrs. helpful over here Im goign to look out for my best interst from now on.

Awh, I'm so sorry. I feel for you, cause I'm sure you had your heart set on them. Well, maybe look it at this way, things happen for a reason, so maybe there is a much better band out there for you. Good luck and we will miss you. Don't be a stranger.

I can understand you being upset but, maybe you can stay and chat about other things and dont talk about vendors until they are def. booked.

Wow why do people suck and have to ruin a good thing. Whoever did this should really be ashamed of themselves. This has definitely taught me a lesson. I am thinking twice about putting info up about my vendors until the contract is signed and the deposit is handed over. I think this very unfortunate. I hope you come back soon, but if I were you I would be feeling the exact same way. So sorry about this!

That's so awful! I hope you come back soon! The wedding world is a great one but a bitter one as well. I try not to post vendors that I'm looking at for that reason, not that I think my wonderful date twins would do anything like that... besides, they are way ahead of me anyway! wow thats terrible. im sorry to hear that! i was very nervous about putting up all my info on here bcuz of things like that but i wanted to give the site the benefit of the doubt. its so sad that people are so envious they have to go steal your idea.

Just to play devils advocate here...

it's possible that the mystery bride had seen a showcase and/or met with the band before you but was waiting to book for whatever reason (saving up cash, etc) and then saw your post and freaked out that the band they wanted might not be available and then rushed too book before it was too late. it's not necessarily 'jealousy' like the poster before said.

I saw another post about a bride really wanting to book Thatched Cottage for a particular date but her FH wanting to wait. If a new bride visited TC today and said she really loved it and was thinking about booking on the same date.... should bride 1 rush to book it? Did bride 2 'call dibs'

I dont really think there is an answer to these questions. To be safe though, I wouldn't mention plans to book a specific vendor for a specific date until after you have done so because it might tip off others who want that vendor/date as well.

Edit: if you were talking to the band about your date, I think it would have been nice for them to give you a courtesy call. When I contacted a makeup artist she told me she might be busy on my date -- nothing booked yet but she was in talks with another bride and would have to contact her and get back to me. I thought this was a great and fair way to do with things.

When my parents heard our band at a showcase they had them hold our date (no deposit) for 3 days, and we ended up booking in the 3 days. It might be worth checking to see if other vendors will temporarily hold the date. Some might

thats crappy....i wanted to meet with a videographer (it was actually pennylane) so i emailed them about my date - he told me someone else was already interested in my date and to give it a few days to see if this other person booked because they inquired first - of course i was disappointed BUT i thought it was really honest of him - the other couple didnt book with him so he contacted me to let me know the date was now free but we ended up booking with a different vendor by that time - i thought it was totally cool that he does business that way - he was honest and fair.....

The photog we booked did something sort of similar...but for us.
He was the first photog we had visited and wanted to see a few more before deciding. He called me about a week after we met with him to tell me he had another bride coming in that weekend to look at the same date. He said since he had met with us first he wanted to let us know, but we had to make a decision before he met with the other bride. I thought it was nice of him to give us a heads up.

I actually found out our first choice band was booked from this site - but FH and I are thrilled with our vendor. We went to a showcase where they played our song and we knew they were perfect right then. Don't get discouraged - there are a lot of options out there!

This is definately a LI-only phenomenon.

See that is the right thing to do. It makes you so glad you booked with them. The fact that the company did not do a courtesy call to you after knowing you were very interested just seems messed up and you are so better off finding someone better, who will go the extra distance.
I really do feel bad for you, but I am sure this all happened for a good reason and there is a much better band out there for you!!!!

i am SO sorry to hear that!!!! i've heard time and time again that I shouldn't be so forthcoming with info on this site, but i'm always naive and do it anyway. i have to say that i'm glad you posted this because i'm going to be much more careful going forward. i hope you find another band that you love just as much (or more)!!!! i hope you'll stick around for casual wedding chat though. we'll miss you!
