VFW hall info
Does anyone know how much it costs to rent a VFW hall? Can you recommend any nice ones in Queens or Nassau? How does catering and the bar work? Do you have to rent tables and chairs??Any info on having a wedding at a VFW would be appreciated. Just looking into some lower cost options
Thanks!

Re: VFW hall info
I don't have a clue how much it costs-you would probably have to call a few and check them out. I'm sure it would be a lot less $$. Very good idea!

There's a pretty Knights of Columbus in Oceanside ... its on Kenneth Place off Atlantic Avenue (across from the 24 hour CVS). They have pretty white lights decorating the tress outside and everything!

Re: VFW hall info
Can't help on pricing, but I can tell you that Seaford VFW hall is pretty good. It is a decent size room with a dance floor, a bar and a small room that is off the main room is where they set up a buffet. I am pretty sure they have an all inclusive price that includes the food, tables and open bar! Hope that helps!

Here's a link to a website where you can request more info about the KofC in Oceanside:http://www.kofc.org/un/officers/findcouncil/results.cfm?country=USA&state=NY&city=OCEANSIDE&postal=&language=all&initial=N&CFID=3147824&CFTOKEN=68919598&jsessionid=tyWhmjO_jtFp47xz5xSfTHJ
And I found a bride from 2005 who had her wedding there. This is her review:

I haven't found any pics yet, but if I do I'll post them for you!

It certainly is gorgeous. I looks like a fancy reception hall. I almost had my wedding there. There are also beautiful grounds to take pics.

Re: VFW hall info
A good friend of mine had her wedding there in the Fall of 2003... it was great. the food was good and she had an open bar. the dance floor was big and the place was really nice. when i was looking she told me that she paid $50.00 a head. i don't know if this included tax and tip or not... i think it might because i am having my wedding for $52.00 a head in '07 at an actual wedding hall... (granted, it's february, but that's a big price difference for almost 4 years).I would definitely look into it... i almost looked at it bfore i found the place i am booked. i know you've been looking for a place to have your wedding for quite some time now! Feel free to FM, i know of some other affordable options too.
ETA: the price included all tables, chairs, linens, china, etc. etc. AND the food and drink of course. they do the catering on premises.

Also check out the Memorarae Club in Seaford (also South Shore Nassa Co.). it is a VFW hall as well that does weddings.

Re: VFW hall info
Thanks everyone for your suggestions! I'm going to check them all out and see what happens. This might be a more affordable option for us. I'm just not sure where we can do our ceremony if we choose on of these places. We really wanted an outdoor ceremony at the RH to cut back on guests traveling. Thanks again!
