I was the same way. I didn't want the expense, but my mom convinced me that it would be worth it in the end. We are going to use a cheaper vendor, because we don't care about special effects or montages. We going to get a bare bones video that is more like a home video. It fits us.

Definitely get one. I am sure you can get one for like $1,000 or under if you dont want bells & whistles. You will want it to look back on one day, i'm telling you. There are things you will miss or wont remember, and the video will show it :)

I think it's defintiey a good investment. you're soending SO much on one dya and then the band leaves, the guests so go him, the flowers die, the food is digested, ALL you have left will be photos and video. I know I want as MUCH of that day to take home with me and show my children

Lots of places will have a cheaper package w/ little or no editing, or maybe if you photo places does video they can give you a good deal!

We originally didn't want a video either. But after thinking about it, decided we just wanted the ceremony, 1st dance, and cake cutting. FI friend, who videotapes all of his shows (FI is also in a band) and is in film school agreed to videotape the wedding. He told us that he is going to use 5 different cameras just for the ceremony! We are really lucky that he is doing it for free. So if anyone doesn't want to pay a lot of money and wants something simple, I can connect you to our friend.

We saw the raw footage of our video a few months ago. We were so happy with it! We had no idea how many things happened at the wedding, that we totally forgot about! I say it is a must have...just consider this...after all the money you are spending, why not buy yourselves a gift that will last forever? Most of the money for the wedding is for 'others' -- your photos and video are yours!

Yay!! I'm so happy you were pleased with your raw footage since I'm also using Wild Rose.

My Mom always says that is the biggest regret she has from her wedding, that she has no video. It really wasn't popular back then she says.

I wasn't going to go for a video either, but after thinking about it, I decided I want one. Its the only way that you will really be able to 'relive' the day. I don't need anything fancy either something simple will do for me. I just want the memories to last forever, and I know that a video will facilitate that. Being able to show your children their parents wedding is also invaluable. I know that I would have loved to have seen a video of my parents' wedding. Now only if I can convince FH.. . he still doesn't understand. 'What do we need a video for??' he keeps saying. Whatever, he will appreciate it later. Then he will say 'I'm so glad we got the video, I should never doubt you!!''
AHH.. sorry so long I'm just blabbing.

Re: video

I wasn't going to get a video at first because of $$ reasons... but then i remembered something... my dad died when i was 10 and when i was younger someone once asked me if my house was ever on fire what would be the first thing that i grabbed... i said my home videos... as a little girl, i would watch them all the time! it allowed me to remember how my dad talked, looked and moved... because after a while my memories started to fade... after remembering how important these videos were to me, i got so mad at myself that I thought for even a second about not getting a videographer for my weddings, which will be one of the most precious days of my life... so in order to pay for it, i decided to go with a photography package were I could get all proofs and the digital files, and make my own photo album (probably will use mypublisher.com) so the money i saved from the albums can now go to my video (im paying $1200)

hope this helps...
