Video or No Video

Video or No Video

I keep having this dilemma with having avideographer or not having one. I feel that I do not need one because realistly how many times do you watch it. How many of you are having one and how many are not. Many of my married friends say they never watch them and that I will not regret it. What do you think.

We're having it. At first I thought it wasn't a big deal but I've watched a few friends videos and it's so great. One reason I changed my mind was because our older relatives won't be there forever. Both of us don't have grandmothers (alive now) and his parents are older than mine. I like the idea that we'll be able to see them in the wedding video years from now if anything happens.

FH and I went through the same thing. Everyone I work with told me to have it b/c it'll catch things you never saw, which is cool but at the same time we'll probably never watch it. We decided to go without the video.

I say video. Only b/c I know so many people who say the day goes by so fast that they can't remeber everything that happened. Not to mention you can look at it, and go over the day over and over again. almost like have your favorite movie on dvd. You can watch it whenever

We are definitley having one. In my opinion I say to get it, although you may not watch it all the time when you do want to relive that day you can turn it on and not miss a moment. If I were you I would want to capture everything, yea you have pictures to look back on but a video you just relive it again.

i'm all for video! think about the DVD's you buy, how often do you watch those? how often are you supposed to watch DVD's? also, how often are you gonna look at your wedding album? i think the video will be hilarious!

We did not want to spend the money so we are asking a friend to videotape for us. At least we will have something

I agree! The day goes by so fast and in the end you only have the photos and video to capture the great moments of your special day. Half the time most brides forget about what happened on that day because we're too busy with whatever else! I think you should go with the video if its w/in your budget.

I am not getting one, but that is because I know that my FH and I will never watch it.

I want one badly, FH says it is a waste, so we are having a friend do it, he is an editer so he can make it somewhat professional looking. I say if you don't want to spend the money, ask a friend to do it.

We decided not to spend the money on a video--

It's whatever your preference is-

We just made sure that we have the best photographer on the island. Do you really need to capture every moment..The best ones I feel will be capture by your photographer--I mean I watched someone's video and you saw who was dancing with who--who was more drunk then the next person and I feel like it puts some guest on the spot or makes them feel uncomfortable if they don't like the camera--I just hated being in front of the camera with a microphone being shoved in my face...It wish the happy couple wishes.....

But really if you also want to cut cost somewhere I think not having a video would be a great start....

Hope no one takes offense to this -- Just very Honest with my feelings.

Good Luck with the decision it can be a tough one!

I wanted one FH didnt. But then I pointed out people like our Grandmothers, who will not be here forever, and who knows who else. And I would much rather have a video of them dancing and having fun, than just still pictures. Its nice to have.
But I am going to ask them to just video tape it and NOT be in peoples faces. I dont want the microphone and I dont want them on top of people while they are eating !!
My friend had a videographer and you barely knew they were there.

I would say definitely a video. It captures all the little things that you didn't notice. And you have something to watch to remember all your feelings from that day.

oh man.....at first my fh & i said we would not have one, bc its kind of waste in the sense how many times are you really gonna watch it.

i went over to a friend house and watched her video....i want one now!!!! she watches hers all the time

she said that she really missed a lot that day and watching the video helped her see what she missed!!!!!!

its nice to have even if you dont watch it all the time!!!

I say yes..even tho its true that you wont be watching it every day, its still a memory that you would like to keep. One day you will want to shoe this video to your children

We are having a video. I think it will be great to show our kids one day. My sisters both have a ritual that on their anniversary they sit and watch the video together with their husbands. It is a little tradition that I think is nice.

For the longest time we said we weren't having a videographer, but after seeing some videos we changed our minds. Even if I don't watch it alot I think it owuld be something nice for my children to see down the line.

Actually not all wedding videos are the same. I picked a videographer who shoots his videos more like movies so it's not with the camera shoved in people's faces. Most people who have used him say they didn't even notice him or hardly knew he was there. I saw part of my friend's wedding video and I was actually at the wedding, there was so much I didn't even notice and I loved it so much I knew I had to get a similar type of videographer for our wedding.
