So FH and I are absolutely in love with Lighthouse! They were just way more expensive than we expected. We have seen several other vendors and nothing else seems to compare. So to cut back on the cost he just wants to do the photos and not the video. The video alone was an extra $2500. I really wanted one but know I need to make some compromises some where. Do you really think its worth it or necessary to do the video?? Thoughts

I personally think it is going to be worth it to have the video. It is going to be great to have photos but FH & I want to be able to re watch our day plus we don't want to NOT get it and regret it. If there is any time to splurge now is the time. Good luck!

I was iffy on video & then i was afraid I would regret not having it. We paid about $2000 for video and I am glad we decided to get it. $2000 is not going to make or break our wedding budget. My parents recently took theirs out and seeing family that are no longer with us and hearing their voices and watching them dance proved to me I made the right decision.edited:spelling

I also think video is worth it for the same reasons as the other ladies mentioned. You don't have to get video through the same company as your photographer. I happened to only because he gave me a great deal on video, but I'm getting a basic, edited video w/ intro. If you shop around a bit, you might be able to find video for a little less.

Well if you still want the video and dont want to pay a lot go with Blue Sky Videos...He used to work with ADA and decided to go off on his own and is now charging reasonable prices...Thats who I am using!!! :)

I was iffy as well but like others have said it'll be great to re-live and show future kids one day. Like others suggested, maybe shop around for video from someone else that way you get the great pics you want and a basic video that you won't regret splurging on a little!

I think it's worth whatever it costs (without having to sell any kidneys) to get video. The plan is, you're only going to get married once. And what better way to celebrate in 25 or 50 years than by pulling out the video and watching it again? My grandparents are celebrating their 70th anniversary this year, and my grandmother always tells me how happy she would have been if she could've had a video of her father giving her away. That always sticks out to me when debating whether to get video or not.

You don't have to use the same photo and video company. Check out Jose from Halo Video. His prices were reasonable.

Since you really wanted one, this is the reason you should get one.If your still undecided about video go on youtube or vimeo and watch wedding trailers. Watching the videos made me decide to have the videographer arrive early for getting ready.
At this point, I think it would be wise to get a basic package and then closer to your wedding you can do upgrades. You will also have a have a better idea of your budget.

I actually called and left Fade to Black a message. I would actually be interested in the video and the photo booth. Do you know what kind of photo booth it is? Is it the coney island type or like a bigger style. I am looking for one that is more free standing not the machine. I also watched the trailers but it is hard to tell from 3 min clips :) I want like a 30 min cinematography style video. Does he do that?

We booked with Lighthouse Photography and we got a video as well. We went to other places and I felt like we were giving them our first born. But I knew I wanted a video as well as photos and they were able to work with us. I say go for it!

Fade to black is phenominal, definitely talk to Gil. We booked them for photo/video/photobooth as well. It's a big free standing photobooth that can be customized to fit your theme. It can hold up to 10 people I think, or be made smaller. It's not a sit down one. It can also record video which I love.
