Re: Videographer search
Tara,
I booked Wild Rose this past weekend. I loved their work and they are fabulous to deal with. Really great people. However, they don't come cheap. Wild Rose is classy and simple and exactly what I was looking for. I did see a video package at VIP when I was there that was about $1,195 and that was the cheapest one I have seen in my travels.
Do you know what kind of video you want and whether you want a DVD? DVDs cost about $300 to $500 more I am paying $1,799 for the ceremony (one camera), cocktail hour and reception, three VHS and one DVD. I am hoping that by next spring we will have saved a little more than we need so we can add the second camera at the ceremony or coverage before the ceremony.
Good luck!

Re: Videographer search
Well am gonna use VIP for pictures so i am gonna check his video out but I have heard some negative things about it, I tend to act like this board is the iron fist though and I know I shouldnt, so i am gonna see for myself whether or not I like it. I figured Wild Rose was pricey because my DJ told me that, but he did say they do a wonderful job.
I do want DVD and I dont want alot of special effects other than maybe a little cinderlla animation and baby pics, kind of more classy documentary type of feel, I hear Wild rose is great for this but I want to hold off on even meeting with them if they are out of my budget.
Thanks for the input though, who else did you meet with? Did you happen to check out this multimedia place, if so how did the prices and quality compare to VIP?
Thanks again!

Re: Videographer search
Tara - I know some people will disagree but I dont think its possible for a photographer studio to be good at both video and photographer. Most of the studios that do both only add on video as a convenience to the brides - but they are not experts.
What is your budget? I really don't think Wild Rose are pricey compared to the others Ive heard about but maybe i am wrong.

Re: Videographer search
I was thinking $1200 but i just spoke to Multimedia and his prices are $1695 plus 300 for dvd I want to cry! I hate tight bidgets lol I want a nice video and I'm just not sure how i will be able to afford it.

Re: Videographer search
Tara- Honestly VIP is a great photographer studio. Awful video (NO offense to anyone). It was choppy and the sound wasn't very good either. Call Marie at Wild Rose and talk to her. You may be able to work out having less hours of coverage (example: cutting the cake early and then they can leave), or not doing bridal house coverage. Stuff like that can reduce the cost of any video.

Re: Videographer search
Totally agree with Michele. I sent Marie a ridiculous amount of emails asking about their prices, and they were very flexible. Everytime I saw a price that was too high, I asked for something different. In the end I went with their cheaper package ($1499 for ceremony, cocktail and reception) and added a DVD for $300. Unfortunately, if you want a DVD, you are going to pay a ton for it. Some places offered DVDs for $500
I did see VIPs video and tend to agree with Michele, especially after seeing Wild Rose. I didn't think it was very good.
As for Multimedia, I only just recently heard this mentioned on the board.
I know how you feel. Keith and I thought that we would be able to find a videographer for $1,00 when we began this journey. Wow, were we way off base!
Good Luck.

Re: Videographer search
i don't understand why more people don't use their photographer for video. The know each other, are used to working together and don't get in each other's way during the ceremony and party. I also know that many photographers don't let the videographer video the portraits before the wedding, a cute time to capture on video. Also, they do know about video AND photo. They have different people to do each one. I have not booked a photograher yet but will do video with whichever photographer I choose.
What's everyone's reasoning for not using the same company for photo and video?

Re: Videographer search
I used VIP for both photo and video. I liked the video just fine -- I am also in the video business. Yes, I've seen better videos but for me I just wanted something nice to have to remember and that is exactly what I got. And they worked well together being from the same place. So think of your priorities and if you don't care if you have a Cannes Festival quality video and just want something to nicely capture the day VIP is fine.
Also -- so much is spent on a wedding and yes, you want nice pictures and a good video and you want to preserve wedding memories like flowers and all but truly in a couple of years, even months afterwards you not going to care about your bouquet or that you had 1000 proofs, etc. Just quality pictures to remember the day.
Just something to think about from an old married lady already

Re: Videographer search
We are using Bellarino Productions in Bellmore, The prices were amazing! Be careful a lot of photographers hire outsiders to do the video end of it. The website is www.BellarinoProductions.com. We went with package #2. Good Luck!
