Can you guys tell me if a videographer is worth it? In my heart, I know it is (I guess I just need to hear it!!)
I want to surprise FH with one because I think he secretly wants one! He keeps talking about it for some strange reason.
Can you guys tell me who you're using and what the average rate is for one (w/ editing)? I called one guy near me and he still uses VHS!! I haven't seen one of those in YEARS and his response was 'Well, go get one then. If you can spend this much on a wedding, you can afford a VCR' ***????? What's wrong with these people!?
Any suggestions are appreciated!

I think it is worth it. I have a package with Duet that includes 10 hours of video and photos!!!
Ditto! I think the video wound up only costing, like $800...

Re: Videographer... yay or nay?
When i first started planning we were a Nay - but then i realized i really really wanted one - FH hates the idea but i want to hear the voices of our loved ones, especially after his Grandma got sick. So I say Yay!! We are getting ours from Proline studios (they are also doing our photography) and its $1200 for an unedited raw dvd - FH does digital editing for photos/video etc and will be editing it for me so i really get what i want out of our video.

DEFINITELY get one!!! From a bride thats been married get one!!! There is soooo much going on that day that you miss things...especially during the ceremony...you're in a fog. You're literally on cloud 9 that you're missing what's going on around you, what's being said...you will want to relive those moments.
Also...here's my latest advise...this just came from recent experience. If your photographer offers a video package and it looks good...I suggest you get it with them before looking elsewhere...here's why... They work together better than two outside vendors will. At least that's what our experience was. At our wedding our videographer and photographer were one co and worked together. Recently it wasn't that way and things didn't go smoothly.

Video is definitely worth the money, if you can afford it.

I'm using Lina Jang and she doesn't do video :(
How about Starlight Productions? Anyone heard of them? They have my date available. I loved the clips of Timeless Treasures, but he's booked!!! :(

I completely agree. There are so many moments that pics just don't capture. I'm so glad we have our video. Our videographer and photographer worked together, which was great. If you don't have that option, perhaps you can find a photographer and videographer who've worked together in the past. You don't want them fighting over the 'perfect spot' to capture the moment.

Definitely worth it! There are some details (like speeches, dances) that are so much more vivid when they are videotaped, and would be missed if you only had still photographs.
