Videographer... yay or nay?

Videographer... yay or nay?

OK, so I have lots of questions today... LOL

Can you guys tell me if a videographer is worth it? In my heart, I know it is (I guess I just need to hear it!!)

I want to surprise FH with one because I think he secretly wants one! He keeps talking about it for some strange reason.

Can you guys tell me who you're using and what the average rate is for one (w/ editing)? I called one guy near me and he still uses VHS!! I haven't seen one of those in YEARS and his response was 'Well, go get one then. If you can spend this much on a wedding, you can afford a VCR' ***????? What's wrong with these people!?

Any suggestions are appreciated!

I think it is worth it. I have a package with Duet that includes 10 hours of video and photos!!!

Definite YAY!
FH said it was more money but he was so happy we got it after seeing Duet's sample. He liked it and saw how much I wanted it.

definitely definitely worth it.

I think they average between $1500-2500 depending on what you get (how many videographers) and how much editing you want. (baby photos, honeymoon photos, movie style, etc)

I think they are worth every penny, I still have my sisters and brothers wedding videos (from 1989-2002) and there are people on the video (like my mom) who has passed on since, and the little kids are all grown up now (including myself), it's just so cool to see how they did things then, and how cute we all were, etc. It's just great. Your kids will want to watch mommy and Daddy get married, it's just awesome.

anyway-sorry so long. I can't believe there are still people who don't get them. By the way-most DECENT videographers are using DVD, VHS is a thing of the past. (But you knew that already)

I think its definetely a good idea.....wouldn't you like to show your children what your parents looked like dancing? There is just so much photos can capture...but that is JUST MY OPINION

Yes it is worth it.

We also were not sure if the video was all that important, but were convinced that it was. The day goes by so quickly, and we want to show our kids someday.
Check out Ray at Timeless Treasures, his work and rates are excellent.

Yes it is worth it! In the whole scheme of things it is isnt a ton of money...and in the end you will see things about the day you may have missed...one day you can show your children...there may be people at your wedding that will pass on and you can share it with your children/grandhchildren.

It's absolutley worth it!! If you have to cut back on something else in order to get a videographer...DO IT!!! The day goes by soooooooooooooooooooooooo fast and there are so many things you will not notice. Sitting and watching your video is so much fun because you get to see EVERYTHING!!!

I woudn defintiely do it. After the day is over and all of the money is spend, the food eaten, flwoers withered ALL you have left are memnories and photos/videos

Definate Yay!! See if your photographer has a package deal, or if they at least reccommend someone....hopefully someone they have worked with in the past...you don't want your photographer jumping in front of the videographer...then he's in as many scenes as you are!

I think it's definitely worth it and one of the things you'd probably regret not getting after the wedding is over. All past brides say the day goes by so fast and they get to relive it when they watch their video.

We got one and it was one of the best decisions we made (at first I was against it b/c we were on a tight budget). We have the memories forever now, and we got to see things that we missed during the day of...

If you check out the Bride's Review Board, you will see that not one bride regreted getting a video, but the small number who didn't are kicking themselves.

We had original decided (or rather FH decided) not to get one. Now, we actually have 2 videographers on our day.

The prices that I've seen range from $1500 to $6000.
