Videography - A must or can I skip it? What are you doing?
I am finally getting around to selecting a photographer. So far it looks like I will dish out slightly more than I expected. I have found cheaper prices but I always said this is one area that I am willing to invest in.
Of course now this has impacted my overall budget. I initially wanted to include videography but the prices are around 2K. Is it worth it? I am torn on what to do.
Do you think this is a MUST or can I skip it? What are you doing?

I'm skipping it. I just think I would watch it once and put it away. Personally, I'd rather relive my wedding through tons of photographs.

It's a must for me but maybe a friend could videotape it for you but there are a few places that will give you just raw footage for under 1500

Hmmm $1000 huh, I didn't think that was even an option. So far the quotes I received have been around $2000+. I will definitely check couped-up and other places that may have packages around that price point. I know I probably won't watch it very often either but $1000 is not too bad. The more I think about it I think I should include it in order to prevent any regrets.
Thanks guys!

My friend will film our ceremony with my Flip Video, but that's it

We are not skipping it because we want to be able to look back at the video years from now to see how young we looked as well as our kids, parents and everyone that is enjoying our special day

We weren't going to do it, until my friend had said that she is happy she did one because now some people (including her father) are no longer here. I also thought about missing the silly things that happens. We have a simple video package, no fancy stuff.

I skipped it. We opted for a home video instead and had my FBIL record the wedding. If I could go back, I def. would have hired a videgrapher! I strongly suggest that you to! I really regret not getting one!

For me this is a must have. If it was one of those traditional wedding vids I would be against it but there are so many cool videos out there.

We were originally going to skip it because of our budget, but slowly realized it's a very important piece to our day. We want to be able to share our video and our day with our kids in the future, and also be able to look back at all the people that came to celebrate with us. We're having a small wedding, so everyone that will be there are folks that we know we will know for a long time to come. Plus, we both realized we wanted to have our vows to eachother captured forever.

I vote a must!!! even if you dont have the best videographer in the word, in my opinion you should get someone to tape the day.

FH didn't want it originally bc he didnt want to go over budget. I want it & need it! Because photos & the video are the only thing you will have once the wedding is over!! You will be able to look back laugh & cry at all the special moments you had that day! My sister & BIL's video after almost 10years I still watch with my mom & cry bc my brother who passed away is in it & does a speech hearing his voice & seeing him is so surreal. You may not want to spend for the most expensive video like HD or a cinamatic but at least get a raw footage or edited ceremony to reception. We're doing edited brides location to reception bc raw footage wasn't much of a price difference. HTH!
ETA: Also, were not using a family member to record the day just because we want them to be able to enjoy our wedding rather than follow us with a camera all day. & god for bid what if something happened & they can't video it, then we'd have to worry whose going to video, & worry if someone will be shaking too much while holding the camera or talking throughout the video. I think about all this stuff... lol

I would try not to skip it. Having video allows you to relive your day in a different way then your wedding photos will. With all the great vendors some of the posters listed, I'm sure you'll be able to get video at a decent price.
