Videography...is it necessary?
I really really want a video of my wedding, especially one done by Aj Ingoglia, however, I definitely cannot afford his work. I have found a few others more reasonable, however, still around 2k...do you girls feel a video is necessary? I am on a super tight budget and i just don't know if i can justify spending extra money. My fiance does not feel it is necessary, however, the more i plan, the more i want one. In all honesty, we dont live together, or share money yet- im considering just getting one on my own as a gift to myself!
need advice?!?!

I'm not doing video. Mostly because I know we will never watch it and I'd rather spend the money elsewhere.

Videography...is it necessary?
At first, I was like ehh, we don't need it...especially after thinking about how boring other wedding videos have been. I hadn't seen one recently, but after seeing AJ's videos and other cinematography style videos we KNEW we needed one. I know a few people who regret not having it. Maybe try to find a place that can do photo and video in a package if you really want it!

I'm doing video, but I know I'll only watch it once or twice. I want it for the memories and for people who won't be around years from now. Check with your photographer. Some will include it in a package for less than a separate videographer. I booked a basic, edited video when I booked my photography & it didn't break the bank. I didn't do cinematography. As beautiful as those are, I found it really increases the price. HTH!

I don't think you need to have some sort of cinematic style video, but I think having a basic recording of the day is something everyone will want to be able to look back on one day. We live in a time where everything is documented on Facebook and Instagram, so why not a basic video of one of the most special days of your life?

Videography...is it necessary?
IMO, I think video is necessary!! To me, its just as important as the photos because it will be the only visual memories you will have to last you a life time. Video gives you a plus because you get to experience it in real time, hear voices, see facial expressions, etc.. I know AJ's work is pricey (although he's awesome) and so is cinematography in general. So if you plan to splurge on one thing I'd say do it on video. There are many great videographers out there. Just do your research and try to find the best prices. You can def get video for under 2k, although I'm not sure if it will be cinematic.

IMO the day will pass so fast and you might regret not having a video. After my wedding, it was so great to watch the highlights and I'm sooooo looking fwd to my video. You may watch it once or twice but it's a memory you will have forever. Reach out to Gil from fade to black, he will work with your budget and will do a fantastic job!!!

IMO it's necessary. After the wedding is over you have 2 thing to remember it with... pictures and video.

Re: Videography...is it necessary?
Even though I'll probably watch it a handful of times, I'd rather have it than not have it.

Videography...is it necessary?
I definitely think it is worth it. 1) It will capture all the speeches, vows, dances, etc. 2) it is something tangible that you will have forever maybe you can make cuts elsewhere. I cut back on flowers and DIY'd my ceremony decor. Also, we are only getting one limo bus for us and our BP instead of a separate car for ourselves....Just some thoughts...

Since you really really want video, go for it. No regrets. It is a great reminder of the day and will also show you some things that you miss. Ask your photographer also about video, we got a great day doing photo, video and photo booth with the same company.

I totally agree. My parents got married in 1968. They have a video that a family friend recorded - but back then it was on a film reel thing! The point is, even though there is no sound and it's in black and white, I got to see my parents on their wedding day. My mom looked classic and I'm actually using her style as inspiration for my gown.
Even though you're not going to watch it a lot, it's a great thing to have. Just think how much you might regret it if you didn't have it.
