Viennese hour

Original post by nrvbrd

Hi.

I was wondering if any of you is having it or has had it at a wedding.

I have toyed with the idea, though at Coral House it is probably not necessary since you get so much food, though I must admit it is tempting.

I think it is a great presentation, but is it a waste of food?

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks.

Re: Viennese hour

I am marrying into a very italian type family who is used to, and loves the viennese, I personally think it is a waste but i have heard so many great things about the presentation at the Watermill and I got a great deal on adding it.
It is a waste i guess but so are alot of things, its a wedding, in ny! Its all over the top but us long island girls wouldnt like it any other way I'm sure

I didn't want one. But, I think a viennese is only realistic for a Friday or Saturday affair (people tend to stay later).

We aren't doing one b/c I think it slows down the last hour of the party... people don't dance as much. We are doing a plated dessert w/ the wedding cake.

We're having the Viennese just so we can send the guests home with some goodies I can't imagine anyone being that hungry after all the food from the cocktail hour, dinner, cake- but I've heard great reviews and how people were so happy to go home w/ some treats

I agree with Stef 100%..

My hall offered to do this big whole thing but I don't want people disappearing from the ballroom area.. it's bad enough that the night goes by so fast (from what I hear) that I dont want the entire evening to be a eating fest.. lol

I don't like that about the whole thing..it's very sweet sixteenish and bar/bat mitzvah-ish in my opinion...

Instead, I am having a silver platter with Italian pastries on every table and chocolate covered strawberries and chocolate mousse...cordials, coffee, tea, expresso, capp,

editted to include what I just read in the contract.. lol

Re: Viennese hour

We are doing the 'mini' one where they bring the platters to each table, and have the espresso, liquers, etc. We are also at the Coral House and there is so much food that I am not sure people would really partake in all the extra food.

We are doing the mini-viennese. Cordials and chocolates and some other things will be placed on the tables. I just didn't think it was worth the money to get an additional hour plus pay for the food and only a quarter of it would be used.

Thanks for all of your responses.

I think the mini-viennese will be enough.

Re: Viennese hour

I am having the full Viennese hour. We thought it was worth it. For an extra $10 a person we are getting a full Viennese hour and a 1/2 dozen roses on each table.

We are also having a Viennes hour but I think Milleridge does it low key. Nothing fancy.

I personally feel that its not necessary. We added an extra half hour to the reception and shouldn't have either.

I've been to a wedding with the Viennese hour and I loved it. The idea mentioned about giving your guests a box and wax paper is a great idea bc it is alot! There is a great variety though and I'm sure your guests will enjoy it especially if they get to take home doggy bags I guess I should look in to that when I book my hall since I'm so positive LOL
