Hello ladies!! I'm booking my first appointments to view venues with my FH next Monday. I booked two and I want to visit 3-4 four venues but I don't know how much time I should allow ourselves in between bookings. We're going to the Swan Club at 1PM and Westbury Manor at 3, but I also want to go to Fox Hollow. Should I book Fox Hollow @ 2 or how long would it take.. This is such a learning curve! It's our first venue visits and we want to allow enough time but not over do it either! I don't know if we should just show up to some of the venues? I made appointments for two and called Fox Hollow and they told me someone would call back because the sales ppl who do appointments were both on the phone...

Re: Viewing Venues alloted time??
It's hard to say really, some places I went to the BM was late or we were kept waiting. Other places I just walked around on my own. you def need appointments if it is on the weekend though.

Re: Viewing Venues alloted time??
hi! I would definitely make appointments this way someone is there and expecting you, can give you a tour, answer any questions, and just spend time with you and your FH.
My FH and I made 3 appointments one saturday afternoon and it went smoothly booking our appointments 2 hours apart. We were at each venue for about 45-60 mins. and then we accounted for travel time as well.
Good luck and happy planning!
HTH!

Re: Viewing Venues alloted time??
I feel better about having them two hours apart then! I'll probably book the 3rd one for later in the day....Maybe even a 4th one. I'm making appointments to make sure we have someone who will talk to us that way we can cross some off our list and/or select one, etc.

Re: Viewing Venues alloted time??
Make appoints definatly...how long depends on the place- I'd try to allow for at least 1.5 hours.

Re: Viewing Venues alloted time??
It varies depending on how much you and FH like the venue. FH and I were at our RH for almost an hour and a half and then another hall we looked at (but weren't interested in) we were in and out in 25minutes.

Re: Viewing Venues alloted time??
I always had a 2-2½ hour gap between appointments. the first night we went to look at halls we were supposed to go to north ritz, fox hollow, crest hollow and westbury manor... we made it to fox hollow and north ritz, I had to call the other two and tell them we were stuck in traffic in suffolk and wouldn't make it in time. we also made the first appt for 5:30, the second for 6:30, then like 8:00 and 9:00. we didn't get to the second until about 7:15.
it all depends on the bm, traffic, distance and your taste. you could walk into a place and hate it, and only stay 15 minutes, or you could love it and chat for 2 hours. it really varies for everyone.

That's what FH said too, so we're sticking to leaving at least 2 hours gap in between, hopefully they can work with our budget.....

Re: Viewing Venues alloted time??
It all depends. Sometimes we took the tour, spoke to the BM and it was over in 30-45 minutes...When we were at a place we loved, it was 90 minutes going over every detail and being wowed!

Re: Viewing Venues alloted time??
DEF make appointments. Also, I would keep the 2 hour gap you have. You have to allow for travel time between venues and you don't want to rush. Make sure you go with questions and your research and what you are looking for. ALSO, the best thing I did between each venue was a PROS and CONS list. After while they all became one big blur so the PROS and CONS really helped and I would do that the SECOND I would get the in the car on the way to the next venue.

Re: Viewing Venues alloted time??
I think 2-3 hours between START time's is good.
This way it gives you 1 hour to tour/ask questions; and time for travel. Plus i find if i show up some place a little early (like if you disklike 1 place so you don't need the full hour) they'll try to fit you in.

Re: Viewing Venues alloted time??
it all depends on the place.....some places I was there 30 min and others over an hour. Some people will talk your ear off.
I've booked multiple appts in the same day. I've also showed up early to places I had appts & they would take me early.
So i would give yourself atleast an hr

Re: Viewing Venues alloted time??
Thanks Ladies!! Well, we booked 4 appointments, one isn't an appointment they told me, just come in, since it's in the morning, the earlier the better come in after 10AM. Here is our list:
Jerico Terrace - 10AM Swan Club - 1PM Westbury Manor - 3pm Fox Hollow - 5 pm
We also wanted to check Leonard's of Great Neck out and the BM told me he's not there on Monday?! So we're just showing up after Jerico and before Swan Club. We might be overwhelmed by the end of the day but we want to get this process moving, he's in grad school finishing this semester so he's super stressed with that and we need to take advantage of any free days he has before school gets out of hand!

Re: Viewing Venues alloted time??
It's a fun, exciting and exhausting process. After the 3rd RH FH and I were done!!! But we already knew what we wanted to book. He's also busy with school and work and well i had to take advantage of one day to see all the halls we wanted to see.

Re: Viewing Venues alloted time??
I did 4 in 1 day before-full day process just like you; think i did Milleridge Inn; Marriot Melville; Villa Lombardis and Verdi's of Wesbury all in the same day-on my own. very exhausting!
But you've picked some GREAT places to look at!!
Good luck!!!

Re: Viewing Venues alloted time??
@dfed1022 Yes, we figured lunch will be right before heading to the Swan Club after JT.
@JRT5412 I know what you mean!! My FH is really busy this semester trying to finish his MBA, planning our wedding and working full time.... Well I'm busy too so we decided we want to look at these 4 (or 5) if one is perfect then we're done looking and will do second rounds of the same place. If not, we're checking in Westchester as well!!
@Notwedyet08 I can only imagine! I'm sure you picked a place you love though!
Now we got to see what we like and what we can get

Re: Viewing Venues alloted time??
We left an hour in between each plus travel time and you should be OK. Some too longer than others and then others we couldnt wait to get out of there!!
If you are late, they wont kill you so dont stress out about it! Remember, they want your money!!!

Re: Viewing Venues alloted time??
I did 6 in one day, I don't really know how I did it but they were all in the vicinity of each other so it was do-able. I think I had 1/2 hr - 1 hour in between each appointment. Plan on spending an hour at each hall...
