VIP Studios (and more)(long...)

i just wanted to thank whomever had posted about john at VIP studios. my fiance and i met with him today and and i will be going back with his mom this week so she can see his photos and talk to him (my mom is in FL so she can't go). as long as she likes everything, we are definitely going with john. he is so nice, his pictures are exactly what we're looking for and the video was incredible!!!! (and he was wearing a mets hat and has a cat that looks like ours - we took those as ''signs'' he was the one). i'm so relived to have one things almost done. we have until next september but i want to have everything done by december. next stop, dj. so far tom at spin around sound is our top choice. we are looking at 4th generation b/c it is the house dj for windows but we're not sure. does anyone have any flower suggestions? my future sis-in-law is using burtons and they seem good but a bit pricey. i have allergies so i'm looking for a minimum of flowers, yet still pretty. if anyone has any flower advice or dj info, please let me know. you can email me at [email protected] or post here. thanks girls!!

Hi phunkycat, if your allergies to flowers are bad, what about silk flowers? A ton of my girlfriends used Burtons and they were the least expensive out of anyone. I think its because they are a wholesaler, have you tried other florists and gotten quotes? happy planning and good luck!

I should be meeting with him again over Labor Day weekend, if I can. That's my last trip to LI before the wedding (two weeks before, YIKES). I'm planning from NC. So I'll definitely post after we return from the honeymoon! :-) Two months to go and counting!

VIP Studios - video

we're going to go with the package B for the video. i actually cried watching the strangers' video, my fiance was laughing at me but it was so good, i couldn't help it! i think we're going to get the gold package (2499) and add 6 pics to each parents book and a folio (only $35!!) for my dad. oh, and heidi, we are thinking of silk flowers but i really want a fresh bouquet. i've been on allergy shots for a few months and by the time of the wedding it'll be over a year so i'm hoping it won't be that bad - we'll just keep the flowers simple.

VIP Studios - video

yes, i do believe you can get just video (they are 2 separate deposits and its someone else that shoots and edits the vid). there are 3 packages, the first was $599 (not entirely positive, may be 699) and is a straight in-camera edit and 2 copies. the 2nd (the one i'm taking) is $1195 and includes intro, baby pics, pre-ceremony, ceremony, cocktail, reception and re-cap (2 copies and its about $60 for the unedited tape). the third is $1795 (again, not positive) and includes all that a a whole lot more. his number is 631-476-6848. i'm not exaggerating when i say this video made me cry, it was beautiful shot and the editing is flawless. his photos gave me chills, he is really good with lighting and there are 2 photogs. he seems to be pretty flexible (i have 2 sets of parents on my side so we need more than 2 books) and is very laid back, i know he won't be in our faces all day. if you have any questions about the photo package, email me at [email protected] (its just too much to write in here).

VIP Studios - Stef and Phunky

Did you get a engagement photo? We asked for it to be included although it wasn't in any of the packages. I guess I will just call when I finish with all my big decisions. Did you guys see the beautiful pictures he took of Neuscwanstein (castle) in Germany and the Coliseum in Rome? I keep thinking this guy is too good to be true...

We didn't do an engagement photo, b/c we live in NC. But I loved the picture of the Neuschweinstein Castle! That is one of my favorite places -- so the picture really caught my eye.

those pictures were incredible - and HUGE!!!! we are gettting an engagement photo, paying like $25 to materials, no time. from the second he walked to the door, i felt like he was the right person, he's so nice and friendly and i like that the 2nd photog is a woman. and we're buying the negatives for what i think is a reasonable price.

I am meeting with John this weekend (I live in VA) and I can't wait. Thanks to everyone for providing great feedback. It sounds like he is exactly what I am looking for. Phunky - Can I ask what you are paying for the negatives? That is something I am really interested in. Thanks! Chrissie

I just put a call into VIP today (because of the board). Can you post how your meeting goes? I have already meet Mark Kaufman and have appointments with Ray O'Connor and Fine Arts. I would love to hear who you have/are going to meet with and how it goes.

Sure no problem. I am also trying to set up meetings with Michael Fairchild, Michael O'Neill, and Studio 7. I don't have a large budget so that's why I think VIP might be the best option. I loved Mark Kaufman's video, but he's out of my price range. How were Fine Art's prices? I really liked their website.

John had the best deal on negatives...you can buy after 6 months for $100-150 (depending on how many he takes- he has guarenteed amounts, but says he usually goes over)

VIP Studios and others

Personal Touch - Photography by Chip in Bellmore was my second choice. Just a little bit more than VIP (2400-3000). But he was great too. I went to ADA and they seem very reasonable, but if you want the assistant, lighting, etc, they add on and it comes out to be more than you expected. I also went to Photography by Verdi - they were fantastic, but way out of my price range.

I have my meeting with Fine Arts on Thursday. I will post after my meeting. I love Mark Kaufmann's photos but want to see a few others before making my decision.

michele31 Fine Art

I used Fine Art for my June 16th wedding and loved them. My proofs were waiting for me when I returned from my honeymoon. I had Jimmy and Chuck. I saw about 15 photograpers I thought this was my hardest decision. I made the right one!! Good Luck!
