Hi girls! I want to go with a much 'different' centerpiece for my wedding and would like to get your honest thoughts and opinions (no feelings hurt here.)

This centerpiece is very modern and cost effective and FH and I both love it but I am worried that it will give the room a very flat look.

Anyway it is going to be a tall cylindar vase with white cymbidian orchids over a monstera leave. (Second picture is not a monstera leaf...but will just give an idea of how the finished product will look!)

I love it! If you are afraid it will make the room look flat maybe put 3 or 4 votives around the bottom of it, the light from underneath will give it depth and angles.

I love it even without the votives:lovesick

ETA: I just read the other posts, if you do the leaves I would do them in a circle around the whole bottom, I would change the rocks, and do maybe a colored marble or even (sounds odd) but the fravel for fish tanks in your themed colors

I LOVE it...I think it's fun yet gives an elegant feeling. I'm all about doing different things for your wedding, you should make it unique with FH and your own style.

See if you can uplight the cylinder from within. The florist should be able to get the lights that sit in the water.

Definitely need votive candles around the base to give a warm glow. I would suggest having the votive cups wrapped in a green leaf to compliment the leaf under the orchids.

i DO NOT like orchids usually but I LOVE this centerpiece- they look so pretty in there!!!

That is so elegant! That leaf will give the room a bit of a tropical feel and the orchird in the glass has that 'wow' factor that you're looking for. I would definitely use votives around the base because not only will they balance the tall cylinder, but they will make the whole thing glow. Did you consider filling it with water? I've seen that as well. Perhaps black rocks would be a bit more dramatic on the bottom?

I LOVE that! Not flat at all-you have the height. Someone else suggested votive candles which I think would draw the eye down as well as up so that could balance it if you're worried. Might give it a romantic look too.
