Crashing .... DH and I wrote our own vows and i'm soooo happy we did. The vows really made our ceremony memorable and extra-special. But they really were a HUGE pain to write.
if you're too nervous to read the vows in front of others, you can read them to each other privately right after the ceremony (in the bridal suite)

Re: Vows
I would love to write our own, but FH refuses.. LOL.. he would never be able to read them in front of all our guests.. Luckily our Monsignor requires us to write essays explaining why we are marrying each other and he will read them to everyone so at least FHs feelings will be put out there (mine will too but i dont mind )

Re: Vows
We are doing something different I found something written that I adored so we are using this:
From This Day Forward
Author Unknown
From this day forward, You shall not walk alone. My heart will be your shelter, And my arms will be your home.
We even had from this day forward engraved inside our wedding bands!!!!!!!!

Re: Vows
writing our own.
This was one of my requests to FH as soon as we got engaged. I think it makes the ceremony so special and touching.

Re: Vows
I like the idea of personalized vows, but every time I hear them they either sound REALLY cliche or theyre all rambly. They're never super poetic or profound. and I REALLY hate when people read them from a piece of paper. SO, We're going to stick with the traditional vows and then maybe say something more personal (but BRIEF) to each other at the reception.

We plan on writing our own but I'm nervous that it won't come out the way I want it.

Re: Vows
we are writing on our own
i feel like the ceremony is the most important part and i really want it to be personal and want our guests to feel that it is personal
it will be something short and sweet no 'i promise not to eat the green m&ms' or other corny lines like that
if we dont write our own 'vows' then we will say something to each before the vows
i want to say the traditional vows AND something personal

Re: Vows
I hope that we write most of it. I find them toe so sincere. I know sometimes guests think they are longer or not necessary, but I like em.
I hope they come out right, if not I guess the norm. I don't want to ramble or get away from the point because if you knew me, that is usually the case. Lol

Re: Vows
When we first talked about vows, FH was the first one to say that we're writing our own and I completely agreed with him. I can't wait to hear his vows and for him to hear mine. I probably will be a complete mess saying them and hearing them, but it's one of the things I'm most looking forward to from the whole wedding

Re: Vows
we are going with the normal ones but we are going to speak them to each other (not just say I Do).
