Re: Wait til you hear about this! Advice please!
I am so sorry this happened to you. Something similar happened to me a few months ago. SHRED all your personal info, especially those pre-approved credit card offers and when you call the credit bureau tell them you want a Fraud Alert put on your account. I had to do that when my EX tried to 'steal' my son's social security #.. Talk about a real Jerk off

Re: Wait til you hear about this! Advice please!
This is my biggest fear! The other day one of our credit card companies called and were inquiring about a request for a new card that my husband signed up for at a giants game. We have a card already with this company, so they looked up our information on the existing card and questioned the address left on the new request. Get this...someone we don't know who - changed our billing address on our existing credit card. They said it was also verified by the post office!A friend of mine went through a similar situation as you describe - they pinpointed around when her info was stolen. She went to Fla. with her kids over the summer....and rented a car. Creepy
What makes me mad is the fact that your personal information is always compromised. H&R block was just on the news for something like this!

Re: Wait til you hear about this! Advice please!
We found out that the slimy jerk gave con ed as my dh's workplace. My dh does not work there. I question how a loan could have been approved without the correct workplace. These banks should also be more careful. We also found out that it was not 1 loan but 2 that were approved. This is very scary that people could just call up and do this.

Re: Wait til you hear about this! Advice please!
This happened to FFIL. The only thing you can do is have his account flagged by the credit bureaus. Make sure you file a police report also. This is a necessity when flagging the accounts. It may take a while for it to work out, but it will.I can't believe that in this day and age, with all of this identity theft going on, that a bank would approve a loan with the wrong work place indicated. What bank was this??? What idiots!!

Re: Wait til you hear about this! Advice please!
it will catch up to this guy and when it does he'll go away for a long time. Fraud is a serious crime.the banks are good and they will be on top of this. definatly notify all the credit bureaus and they'll be able to help you if something is on your report that shouldnt be.
definatly get a police report this way its on file.
dont worry things will work out and this slime ball will get what he deserves

Re: Wait til you hear about this! Advice please!
Ronnie, that was the first thing I said to DH is now I don't trust anyone and that maybe it is someone we know. But honestly I can't think of someone who would do this. The only thing he can think of is he got a cell phone a few weeks ago and had to give all his info then. But as I said we can't prove anything. They can't catch this person until he/she tries to go to the bank and pick up the check. Then the bank said they will call the cops.

I hope this individual does go to the bank this way the cops can be called.Just make sure you notify all the credit bureaus, check all your credit card info to make sure there were no charges made that you didnt make, and check all your bank info.
It will catch up to this person.

Re: Wait til you hear about this! Advice please!
This happened to me twice. Once someone went into a department store and opened up a credit card in my name and charged $800 worth of makeup on the card. The second time, someone stole those checks that come from your credit card company (they must of stole it right out of my mailbox) and paid a stolen credit card with the cash advance check that they stole from me. The second time I was able to press charges, but I did not know who to press charges against so I was just able to file a police report.

Re: Wait til you hear about this! Advice please!
OMG
How irresponsible fleet is.
Is it possible to put a complete stop on the credit card this person has, then when he goes to use it the vendor gets a message to call the cops.
So they have the guy on survalience (sp?) do they have a copy of his drivers license with an address? you said he has a DL in your hubbys name is it your address or another address.
the credit cards can you have them traced. if he is using this credit card, there has to be a papertrail somewhere (where he went, what he bought, etc..)
The credit card company has to be able to give an address to where they sent it too.
OMG i hope they find this loser and put him away for a long long time.
Definatly get to the cops and put out an a search for this guy. Put a stop on everything with your hubbys name.
I am so sorry that you have to go through this. I wish there was something i could do to help you.
