Wait til you hear about this! Advice please!

I just got a call from DH telling me that we got a letter from a bank saying that our loan is being processed. Guess what??? We NEVER applied for a loan. Someone has stolen DH's identity including social security number, address etc and is applying for loans from the bank. He is now calling all of the credit bureaus. What else should we do or who should we call???? I am livid and scared at the same time. We are calling the bank during working hours tomorrow to find out if the loan actually closed already. If not, I hope we can be there with the cops when this ****er goes to sign for the cash! The nerve!!!!!

OMG I can't believe this is happening to you guys!

I would start calling all your credit cards and make sure there are no unauthorized charges. What did the bank say to do?

the bank said to call the credit agencies and tell them that before a credit check can be done they have to call dh. The bank said they won't know until the morning if the loan closed because the branch was closed this evening. Just what we needed now!!!! uggghhhh

You should also run a credit report to see if there are other accounts out there that are in his name. And after you get this done you should run a report every six months to make sure it has stopped once you get it resolved. Good Luck! I hope they get this person!!!

I hope everything works out. I hope you are able to find this person and get the cops on him. Definatly call everyone you have an account with, even your bank account, and inform everyone of the situation.

Keep us informed of how things work out. Banks and the social security administration are really good at making sure your credit doesnt get ruined because of this jerk who did this to your husband.

Definatly talk to a lawyer because if this person is ever found you can have him put away.

WOW - I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope everything works out ok. It's so weird that you posted this... Some guy that I work with had gotten his bank card # stolen from him over Xmas week and emptied out his acct. leaving him like $50!!! Some person in Turkey had like somehow hacked his # over the internet.
This is all a wake up call to make sure you check every statement you get thoroughly...

So far, we called the bank and they said they did not think the loan closed but if it did not they are going to call the person in and call 911!!! That is what I want and I want to be there to see this jerk!!!!!

Get this..

I went to the bank Sat and found 800 missing from checking..

I had 4 200 unauthoraized debit transfers..

Winds up I get the # of the place that did this and I called the Citi Bank Police (LOL) and I am pressing charges against the person and the co..

F*** them.. Trying to steal my $$$$

ABC: banks are really good about these things. They'll put a stop on everything and they will find this guy and get the police on him.

We have no clue how this whole thing happened. For now on, we are shredding everything that leaves the house in the garbage, no more ordering on the internet etc... The only thing dh can think of is he signed up for a new phone and had to give out his information before the new year and maybe someone in there sold his info but we can't prove it!!!

Thanks lisat for the numbers, the only number dh did not have already was the SS administration he is calling them this morning. I appreciate it!!!
