Waiting to hear back about my interview

If your interviewer told you that a decision would be made by the middle of this week and you haven't heard, would you assume the worst?

The interview was informal, I guess you would say. I heard of the job through a friend who told me to e-mail the person who was leaving. I did. She set up an interview for me with her boss, THEN asked for my resume (so I didn't submit it to an HR dept) and then I met the woman who is hiring.

Since I got the interview through a friend, I wonder if I will hear anything if I didn't get it.

Although it is really low paying, it is what I want to do with my life and I am willing to take the step back.

Need job dust on this one, please!!

I remember what this feels like - I was just home from Jan -April due to a lay-off.

I'm happy to be working again but man do I miss my time off!!!

I wonder if maybe the decision just hasn't been made yet.

I wouldn't necessarily assume you won't get it. Sometimes these things go on longer than they anticipate. Good luck!

good luck! DH's joob was simialr, he heard through a frined & they interviewed him & then soemoen said, hey, I heard you got that job. . ., but he wasn't ofically told for a little whiel, b/c then they had to goto HR to make it official.

I want to be a literary agent, so this would be a foot in the door. I don't even care that it would be a step back in salary. I can get raises once I get in. I just want to get in.

Just because they tell you a time and don't call, doesn't mean they don't want you.... if they are anything like my dept, we are currently making someone wait like 3 or 4 weeks now, it's ridiculous, but it's what happens.

I would call maybe tomorrow or Monday and say you are just following up and would like to say that you are very interested in the position. Something like that.
