I need another job so I can make some cash! I have a good job now in a marketing firm on Long Island so I am busy during the week but I want to waitress nights (but not so many weekends) I know that will be tough, but I need the cash and have zero experience...any suggestions? Are any of you waitressing now? Can you get me a job?? Lol...I'm not kidding!!

not from LI so not sure, but how about applying to restaurants in your area, apply to as many as you can and see what you get.

Re: Waitressing???
my sister used to work at the milleridge inn (sp?) and they might be flexible with scheduling. also like Denise said try a cafe which wouldnt have the crazy hours as a reg restaurant!!
ETA: The M.Inn has a restaurant part too aside from the catering. But i worked in the manor east a few years ago. had no experience but had to get a tux and did work alot of hours. remember a party is 5 usually and then they want you for set up and breakdown so it turned out to be a 9 hour day - but that was my experience - other halls might be different!

Re: Waitressing???
I know most catering halls hire without experience and they make a minimum of $10 per hour + tips of your good! You prob. need a tux though. Most catering halls do 5 weddings a weekend so you could do as many or little as you wish. Plus...get free ideas..
I used to work at Miller Place Inn like 8-10 years ago....I loved it and made great money while I was in college.

Re: Waitressing???
I used to waitress in college. The best way to do it is to walk in to a bunch of restaurants and apply in person. Did you think about trying manhattan? you could make sooo much $$.

Yeah I am wayyy too old to be working until 4am....lets be serious, I will b*tch some people out - I dont care how good the money is!!
I worked at a cafe too! On sundays they had brunch, so i worked a double from 11am - 9pm. Otherwise, weeknights it was 6pm-11pm. Weekend evenings it was 6 or 7 till 12:30am. Just check around. The weather is getting nicer now, so i'm sure a lot of people will be hiring soon.

Re: Waitressing???
just so you know, if you work at a corporate place (ie chilis, fridays) they make you enter your tips into a computer and you will owe when tax time comes around next year...and most of them require you to work FRI, SAT and SUN when you first start for a few months. or at least that was my experience.
i had a much better time waitressing at a privately owned restaurant.

I hope that helps. I check that site everyday for tutoring jobs. You can post ads on there for free too. I have had no luck but maybe it will bring you some luck. Anytime Thank you!
