Just an FYI to those that changed there name... if you type in your old name, it'll still come up with LIW stuff. I changed my name about a month after I joined and if I google my old name, my old posts come up.

here's the reasoning....

If your AOL name matches your LIW name...people can do a google search on you and see EVERY POST YOU HAVE EVER MADE - including the raunch ones, etc. Try it - google your LIW name....

If your LIW name is NOT the same - it can't happen...

here is my thing..its no fun what happend to the 07 girls..

but you knew you were on public forum..and once things are said you can not get rid of that by changing a screen name

the internet is a huge deal now a days and its a primary communication device..so its not creepy or anything else..this is what happens when things arent password protected or anything else for that matter

you think prople finding out about wedding stuff is bad..how about that people can pin point everything aboutyour entire life on the internet for a small fee

i bought for $9.95 a complete background and credit check for FH once just to se if those tings are real..and all i neeved was his 1st name and state lived in..i opened it up and it gave me access to a bunch of people with his name in the state with all their vitals in it..and then i just knew what i was looking for and that was that


there is nothing that you can keep a secret in this day and age anymore..its sad..but also very true

just relax and make the decision first to post online so you dont have to freak out about it later

i take serious precautions as to protect my idenity and monitor it so closely everyday that i can right now tell you my name address AND SOCIAL security number and im sure that nothing will happen to me

just be careful in what you say..its not as easy as just changing your screen name

then look at myspace

people sign up to show the world who they are through descriptions and pictures from ages 10 to 100..thats the times we live in and people need to accept it

again im sorry as to what happend to the 07 girls..but dont gossip about it through numerous posts..leave the website if you are scared and have a problem

okay then..so people are changing their names to cover up what they once said so people dont find it..that doesnt make too much sense either..i guess i didnt ned to say that whole peice...but its still silly..were girls just trying to talk about our weddings..i dont know waht the huge deal is and why peoples feelings get hurt over the internet

mine really had absolutely nothing to do with the '07 thing...I logged on, saw Mici's post about changing her name, and was like oh yeah I wanted to do that! I just decided that I didn't want my SN to be the same for absolutely everything (which it kinda has been up until now)....yes, people will see it anyway. I don't care, I'm not posting anything important. I don't care if ppl find out about my wedding. I just didn't want the students I work with googling my screen name and seeing anything, i.e. raunch or whatever, that I may post in the future. I know they can see what I posted in the past but oh well....

So who cares! a bunch of people changed names! whatever! let's all be happy instead
