Walking down the aisle alone?

Original post by katebloom99

Is anyone doing this? Or has anyone seen a bride do this?

I know sometiems brides who have lost a father or do not have a relationship with a father have someone else walk them down the aisle, but what about walking solo?

My friend told me it would look wierd.

Comments?

Thanks.

Besides, it doesn't matter HOW you get there, as long as you get there!

Absoultely!

I would walk alone if my father wasn't there and my brother couldn't be there.

My SIL walked alone. She wanted the GRAND ENTERANCE. Her father was there. So both her husband and her father saw her for the first time as she walked down the aisle.

It can be done.

I personally don't think it looks werid. Im just glad my father will be there so I can squeeze his arm when I get nervous.

My FSIL did it and my girlfriend did it too. It doesn't look weird. And to be honest, if the people in the church (or wherever you're getting married) *know* you and they see you walking with someone who's obviously a stand-in, that will probably look weirder.

I'll also probably be walking down the aisle alone. No longer speak to my parents, bad relationship. I guess I don't really mind that I'll be walking alone, I may feel a little awkward on that day, I don't know. But I did go to a wedding where the bride and groom walked together down the aisle coming into the ceremony and I thought that looked very nice!! They were a pair and it looked very special because everyone was excited to see the both of them at that moment.

A friend of mine lost her father about 2 years ago. She walked halfway by herself and then her mom met her and they walked the rest of the way together.
I thought that it was so touching and really made me feel like her father was there with her in spirit.
Don't let anyone tell you it's weird - you have to do what makes you most comfortable.

Both my Mom and dad have passed away , so my sister and brother in law walked me halfway( I am Jewish) and then my DH came and got me for the rest. I heard there was a lot of people crying, I have not seen the video yet. I do not think there is anyhting wrong walking down by yourself, it is really a personal decision.
