Walking down the aisle alone?

Walking down the aisle alone?

What do you think about the bride walking down the aisle alone?
Has anyone done it? Or seen it at a wedding?

I'm thinking about doing it and wondering if people will think it's strange. I'm also a little worried about hurting my dad's feelings (we get along great but I feel funny asking him about it). He's never mentioned walking me down the aisle so I don't know if he's expecting to or not.

you should ask him. you may regret it if you don't. i think it's every dads dream to walk his daughter down the aisle. if my dad was alive i would never not have him walk me down.. i'm walking down alone because i don't want anyone to replace him now that he's passed. just my opinion!

I prefer the statement that walking alone makes, but I was concerned that it would be too nerve-wracking. Now, it's not like he's giving you away, it's more like he's keeping you from freezing in place then running away.

I am walking down alone for the same reason that you are.

I'm walking about 3/4 of the way down the aisle. Then my FH is going to walk to me, and we are going to walk to the altar hand-in-hand.

Speaking as a girl whom is extremely close to my Dad...

Talk to him....He may not mention it- but it may be expected...

He is your father, you shouldn't feel funny talking to him about it...maybe he is not brining it up because he thinks you should...
After all it is your wedding...

I am sure you will make the right decision...

Someone I know, Walked down the aisle with her Future Husband...Her father had passed away...

It was so sweet.

Unless he is estranged, your father probably assumes he is walking you down the aisle.

My 2 cents:
I would think long & hard about walking down alone. It is a very emotional/nervous/enormous moment. ALL EYES are on you. Cameras are going off. People are waving at you. And everyone is there to see you & FH. It can be VERY intense. You might want someone's hand to hold.

I agree. Talk to him. Usually its expected especially if you get along with him and it is not something you talk about its just assumed.

Also I just noticed your wedding is next weekend!!! AWESOME

But I think if you tell your dad you are walking down alone THIS CLOSE to the wedding, that he will still be upset come the big day...

THANK YOU LADIES!!! I appreciate your input so much.

I'll definitely think about it some more, maybe mention walking down the aisle with my dad and see what his reaction is (like if he's excited about it)... it's not that I don't want to walk with him, it's more that I love the idea of walking alone to FH. But I was also thinking to myself that if I let the opportunity pass to walk with him, I may regret it in the future. So I will probably walk down the aisle with my dad

Thank you for helping me out!

Wow this is so true... didn't even think about how nervous I'd be & that I might want someone there with me... you're right!

Talk to your Dad... he may be expecting and didn't think that you were NOT considering having him...

I would say unless you have a terrible relationship with him, you should walk with him. . . .

The only time I saw a bride walk down alone was when her father was dead... it was very emotional for everyone because it was very touching....she could have had another man walk her down (brother, etc. but she wanted the to make the statement that no one could replace her dad.
