a miniature siberian husky..i know it sounds silly..shes only 32lbs..lol

and the dog whisperer is a P.O.S and i hope he gets bit by a dog..he way of teaching is terrible and he obviously dosent know waht dogs are really for..iknow he has helped people..but he helped people be terrible dog owners..JMO

2 of my dogs are siberians and I think that't just a characteristic of the breed. I can hardly leave them alone. They destroy everything! Metal crates they can tear right through. Any type of fence is no match for them! They can find their way out of my yard in less then 10 mins. Which means I have to keep them in the house almost all the time unless I am outside to supervise them. Your right about when you are home though. ... as long as I am home they are perfect angels! ugh I feel the same way you do sometimes. i love them to death but not being able to leave the house without coming home to something destroyed is aggrivating.

*BTW for all you suggesting a professional dog trainer ... most pros won't even attempt to train a siberian (it's almost impossible) believe me... I would spend anything to have my dogs trained. But, every trainer I called told me they won't do it and if I actually find someone to do it they would basically just be stealing my money.

finally someone that understands..everyone just thinks i have a bad dog..she just freaks out when im not home..it almost puts me in tears..ive tried to get her trained..but they say training them to be home alone is something that just wont happen until shes older..they say she will calm down more but now..shes almost 2..she is a terror..sometimes we go out and she does nothing..but others..OMG i dont know what it is about her..so we hide things thats its ok for her to get..so she thinks shes being bad..but really its the stuff we want her to destroy

when i go home i will post the dog trainer i used as well as who my mom used...she worked wonders and said she will work with every type of dog and if it isnt coming out great she will let you know and not continue the lessons...she doesnt want to steal your $$

she understands some dogs are difficult- like my parents dog- we thought he was going to bite you every time you walked into the house and he got near you....he was scary...and my mom was ready to give him up---

the dog trainer changed it all around, now my parents dog is a mush!!!!!

I disagree 100%

I hope this doesnt offend you, but WE as owners CREATE the anxiety in our pets. I know this because I deal with our pug and we were completely guilty of it at first. We would make a big deal when we came home -hugging kissing, petting, etc. so our dog was totally getting over excited. Then when we'd leave we'd make a big deal out of it.

Our dog had MAJOR separation anxiety.

I started using his methods of NOT fueling the fire (waiting 20 minutes before saying hello to the dog, not making a big deal out of leaving the house, etc.) and he is REMARKABLY better.

At the end of the day, it's a DOG. Not a human. The formula for caring for them isn't/shouldn't be the same as you would for a human. Just because you aren't babying your dog and hugging kissing squeezing them 24/7 doesn't make you a BAD pet parent or any less caring. Our dog is our life but I don't baby him because I know it's not good for his mental health. I am looking out for HIS well-being (not my need/desire to feel love and affection from him)....

I'm sorry - I just really believe that its US that screws up our pets, not the animals themselves.

lol exactly

I let them get the things that are ok to chew... but, when they find something I really like and destroy it ... it is so upsetting. Some days I come home and things are almost perfect (maybe 1 or 2 things messed up). Other days I walk in and they entire place is wrecked. They aren't bad dogs... it just comes with the breed. They get bored easily and try to find things to entertain themselves. Eventually, they calm down a little and they will learn which things not to destroy and what they can get away with. Takes a lot of patience but the amount of love they give is so worth it. They are seriously my best friends.

thank you. i will give her a call if you can send me the number. unfortunately, i already know what she'll probably say about training a siberian... i've heard the same thing at least 200 times from different trainers in new york. it's worth a shot though

im not offended at all..i know that we need to be trained more then the dog..and the whole thing when we leave or come home with not paying attention to her..has helped once or twice..but it really did make it worse..she thinks we dont care..so the next time we leave..the house will be destroyed..shes smarter then us..and thats a small problem..but i dont really care..i got her because i loved her and i dont want to treat her like jsut a dog..but not like a human either

it is just something that comes with the breed..and we didnt know that at first..and on top of it..we got her pate from the breeder..at like 5 months old..and she was the first to go..so she was with her bros-sis and mom for a long time..and found out that she was slightly abused too..so its just been a pain..but its alright
