I want a dog SOOOOO bad but FH and I agreed it's not the best time since we do not live together yet and not sure if our new place will allow us to have own

Re: Wanting a dog

We just recently got a Samoyed puppy and we are in LOVE wit her. It definitely is quite a responsibility and at times it's really hard. Since FH has been working nights I've had to take care of her a lot on my own and AHHH!!!

But I wouldn't trade her for anything!

Re: Wanting a dog

I had 2 dogs already.. .then recently someone gave us a 3rd. I didn't want to keep it but FH did. So, now we have 3 and it def is a ton of work. Especially when he wants absolutely nothing to do with the responsibility. He loves playing with them... but, thats about it. He says 'he CAN'T clean up accidents' cause he will throw up (more like he just doesn't want to). makes you think twice about any real big responsibilities.

Having a dog also brought the FH and I closer together...there are so many things that happen once you find your little addition to the family! I can't tell you the nightmare we went through for 2 months, with the crying in the middle of the night and the poop all over the apartment! The smell is not of this Earth! But all in all they are amazing little friends with lots of love to give! Phinny loves to give hugs and sleep between FH and I underneather the covers, head on pillow... See my pics for what you can expect from yours!! And if you can, try to adopt...there are so many lonely dogs out there without homes. It makes me so sad..

gorgeous dog!!!

Re: Wanting a dog

thats what we did..i wanted to start out taht way.and let me tell you..iit would be 10 times easier if we had a child then a dog..we have a destructive dog and cant really leave her alon

so we cant go to dinner or movies or things like taht that often..i even had to change my work schedule for the dog

if we had a kid..we could at least take her if we wanted to go out to eat or shopping or something like that

i love my dog..but i wish i never got her

you shouldnt feel that way - there are so many options. there is obedience class - there are even some trainers who will come to your house and help you train them one on one - and it is never too late to start with proper training!

if you cant afford those options - you can crate train her. . . we never did this with Brutus but we didnt have to - lots of people do crate training and dogs actually prefer the security of it! it will be hard at first but she will get used to it!

Yes, I totally recommend crate training. At first I felt SOOOOOOO horrible about it. But you know what? It's his hidey-hole! he loves it.

honestly, Brutus is sooo good when he is alone - but i wish i had done the crate training JUST because i heard it is so much easier to put a dog in a doggie bag if he finds close spaces comfortable - we wanted to fly with him but since we dont know how he will handle a bag so we are driving instead!

ok..seriously..we did that and she ate through her crate..then we got a metal one..and she ate and bent her way out of that..plus we live in an apt and her howling was making us get complaint calls

the only thing that has worked is she goes to daycare..but that only during the day..when we go out at night..its hard

shes been diagnosed with severe seperation anxiety..so when were gone..she freaks out..but when im home with her..like now..she curls up and sleeps

We crate trained & Petey is an amazing lil man! I thought it was the worst thing we can do at first, but after reading up about it and speaking w/ various trainers, it's the best way to train an animal. Petey has been out of the crate for a while & is so well behaved, the only 'issue' we have is he goes, after a certain item of my clothing. We were told that he may just miss me during the day ( This only happened after I went back to work, I was a Stay @ home Petey -Mommy of Sorts), so we fixed it, by fiving him a comfy piece of my clothing in his, 'place' (a big doggie bed, w/ down pillow & a lil down comforter

i have a mini dachshund and he is soo cute- he is the 2nd love of my life (1st being FH )

and i spoil him so much- he definitely changed my life and i feel like he is alot of responsibility but i dont mind it at all-- plus when Fh is home and he plays with Gunner it makes me excited to think what he will be like with our children!! does that make sense lol

really - i dont feel that way at all - i think his way of training is excellent. . .honestly cant say that i follow it bc we definitely 'baby' our dog - but if he was a danger to himself or others i think that his way of training can be effective!

just looked at the pic of your dog - she is a beauty!

Re: Wanting a dog

thanks..

i dont like him because he is not a fan of the campanion way of training dogs..he feels like they should know their role as being inferior and thats it..i am not that way..as long as my dog isnt biting people..i dont care waht she does..unless its break my video camera..which i whooped her *** for
