I am so upset. For the past few days, my cat has not been eating and was throwing up. We brought him to the vet 2 days ago and they gave him some medicine. He still wasn't eating so I brought him back this morning. They said they needed to keep him to do some tests, so I have pretty much been crying since this morning (I have him since he is a kitten, me and FH got him about a year ago).
This afternoon they did x-rays and it turns out that he had a dime in his stomach! They did surgery about an hour ago and he seems to be okay. I just can't imagine how he could have swallowed a dime.
I just figured I would warn all of you that this is possible and if you have pets, don't leave any change lying around. I would hate for anyone else to have to go through this.

Re: Sammy
That is great to hear Tara!! I told FH about you and he got so sad !! Then he started lecturing me that my parents house better not have change laying around because our dog tends to eat anything in sight! When I get a chance to have the picture of my dog Benji with his cone on scanned, I will post it. Its hilarious!! Best wishes for a healthy recovery for Sammy.

Re: Pill Gun Info.
I got the pill gun for my cat from my vet. I think it cost about $8.00 and is the best invention ever.
It takes a little practice, but now I don't even have to hold my cat to do it. He knows it's coming and almost opens his mouth automatically.
I would suggest calling various vet offices b/c I would think most of them sell them. If not, I got it from Mid Island Animal Hospital on Old Country Road in Hicksville.
It has saved me tons of time, pills, and stress on my cat.

Re: Sammy
I can totally agree with you, I had a beagle for 16 years while I was growing up. I have a cat now, Icarus(LIke the mythological boy who flew into the sun witht his wax wings and it melted) We call him Icky for short, he is a Russain Blue kitty, he is going to be 9 next week. I had had 3 kittys die on me in 2 years over freak things... I am still getting over the death of Strudel who died at 18 months from a embellism...., and Latka who died of phenphgis, and Tiffiany who had a virus. I can totally sympathize with all of your animal worries. I am so scared to get another cat, I am thinking of a dog, but still concerned I will get attached and a disaster will strike. I do love Icky and he is the greatest!!!!
