Was just told that I will be out of a job by 2/1

I'm a legal secretary. My firm is closing its Long Island office come February 1st.

Words cannot express how mad I am.

This blows.

Anyone need a legal secretary or administrative assistant on the island...

I am so sorry to hear that. I know how you feel. I was laid off in June. I truly believe that everything happens for a reason. There is something better in store for you.

Job searching can be a roller coaster - you have good and bad days. There will be many rejections, but the right job will come along. Good Luck!!!

I'm sorry. Waht about trying manahattan. There are so many law firms there. I used to run the gym for the Stroock, Stroock, & Lavan, and Weitz & Lux building.

Contact your local bar association (I don't know what county you're in) and see if they have any listings for attorneys looking for legal secretaries. If it makes you feel even the slightest bit better (which I doubt, but it's worth a shot), legal secretaries are in higher demand right now than lawyers, so you have a much better shot of finding a new, better job much more quickly than the attorneys in the firm.

Good luck. If you tell me what county/area you're in, I might be able to see if there are any openings with anyone I know. I'll be at the Bar tomorrow for a meeting, so I can check then.
