watch out for scammers

hey gals

i know you all make very educated decisions about vendors, but just wanted to warn you.... a photographer (who shall remain nameless) who i recently asked for a quote gave me a price of X dollars, then told me there would be an additional charge *PER PROOF.* I've never heard of such a thing?! Hello -- You're taking photos, shouldn't I get proofs with that??

This same photographer, when asked about shooting digitally, told me there would be a charge *per image* for 'exposure.' Um excuse me, the photos are DIGITAL. What is to expose???

This guy must have thought I had a sign on my head that said A--HOLE.

Watch out ladies and make sure you ask your vendors tons of questions so you understand everything clearly, and they understand you're not a sucker!!!!

I don't think he should remain nameless. You could have outed him by phrasing it differently and simply asking the following innocent question:

I met with XXXX today, although impressed with his work I found out he does X, Y and Z and gave me an estimate of $$$. Is this in line with what you ladies are paying?

The NOOOOOOO's shall flock and you have documented your case.

I like the way you think!

I believe you are talking about Mark Kauffman - I think it is a little misleading to say the scamming aspect since he is upfront with the fact that there is a charge for the proofs depending on what package you go with. But he is good about making a package that suits your needs - our packages includes all our proofs. I wouldn't have signed anything otherwise.

Honestly there are different packages out there with every vendor and you need to just find one that better suits your needs.

I'm glad he was able to make a package to suit your needs! Maybe I caught him on a bad day... the package he quoted for me he charged per proof from proof #1, not #501.

I'll be honest, I do not like his answer about digital photography having a charge per image for 'exposure' -- I'm sorry, but that is just complete B.S. - JMO

ETA-- to all using this photog-- this was just my personal experience talking to him... he does beautiful work and all you ladies made a great choice! Can't wait to see your pics!!
