Try Fox Hollow. Their grounds were very pretty. We just got married there in June. Their on-site florist takes care of the grounds.

I just went to a wedding at the Watermill last night, and the food was great. Cocktail hour was outside, very pretty. Lots of food at the cocktail hour. They had a mashed potato bar which was a huge hit, very yummy. We were in the room downstairs, there were over 200 people there and we didn't feel squished. Service was very good. Cake was the best wedding cake I ever had. They had white cake with strawberry and banana filling. Also had a chocolate fountain and donut cart.

Best of luck hall searching!

Re: Watermill

Hey everyone! So I visited the Inn at New Hyde Park last night. It was pretty, and the outside gardens and gazebo are very nice. However, I wasn't crazy about the Sleepy's next door and the gas station across the street. Plus I prefer the Watermill. Going there tomorrow so Greg can see the rooms and so we can taste food. Keep fingers crossed for me! I will let you know how it goes. Thanks everyone for the feedback!

The Watermill was my number 1 choice and luckily they gave the best price as well!!! There food has always been amazing! I have been to many weddings there are always fantastic! You really need to go to one of there bridal shows! They are free and they put on quite a show and food presentation! You would think you were at a wedding. We are also working with Frank. The outside is sooo nice and I love the outdoor cocktail hour space. The grounds are so nice that you won't ahve to worry about going anywhere else for pictures.

Re: Watermill

sooo we went to the watermill this morning. greg got to see the rooms and the grounds and loved it. we were done by 12. we had originally planned to kill some time nearby at home goods and trader joe's and then come back at 3 to try the food (extra entrees from the wedding going on at that time). however, frank told us we could come back on thursday evening for a bridal expo for a tasting with tons of different foods, so we signed up for that. we booked for sunday afternoon, june 19, 2011. it's father's day. we had spoken to a lot of family members and people are cool with it. most people will be there with their father's anyway! (from our families.) greg;s friends dont have fathers around, mostly. and my few friends will have to just deal haha

anyways so yeah we booked, put the deposit down and it says in the contract subject to tasting. so if we hate the food on thursday, we can back out. but i'm pretty confident we'll like it. fingers crossed. i am SOOOO EXCITED!! i am getting married! i am going to be a june bride!! WOOT WOOT!!!

I have been to many functions there including 2 weddings and my best friend is booked there for next September!! It is one of my favorite halls!! everything was great!

Re: Watermill

So we went to the tasting on Thursday and it turns out it was like a bridal expo. Greg and I had a ton of fun, but I have to say, I wasnt totally wow-ed by the food. Nothing was horrible, but some things were just 'okay'. The things I did like were the spinach pie hor dourves (sp?), the penne vodka and penne in a tomato basil sauce, the chicken rollatini (very yum!). But for me, everything else was just okay. Now I don't know what to do. Greg was happy with the food but we both thought a lot of the dishes that were supposed to be hot were cold. ;-(

Do I back out? (I still can.) I liked the Westbury Manor, too, (not as much as the Watermill). Should I try and do a tasting there? I'm so confused! A lot of people have told me the food at the Watermill is great and I've read a lot of great reviews but I really wasn't all that impressed ;-(

Try not ot overthink to much! You will drive yoursled crazy (ask me how I know). If you love the Watermill go for it! Honestly, I'm not a big foodie when it comes to catering halls. All tastes the same to me and its a crap shoot wether the food with be hot or cold!

FYI- I don't think Westburty Gardens does a tasting but you can go to the restaurant.

Re: Watermill

Personally, if I wasn't nuts about the food I wouldn't book. You are spending too much money to have any food that isn't really good.
Westbury Manor lets you go eat at their restaurant. No formal tasting. I've eaten there multiple times and been their showcases and the food has been universally excellent.

The Inn at New Hyde Park is one wedding at a time. It also has beautiful gardens and the food is amazing!! If you can meet the guarantee of people, you should really check it out. We're having over 200 people.

The food at the expos are not as good as the food you get the day of. Trust me, the food was delicious!
