WATERMILL thread

Re: WATERMILL thread

I think they also listed Jack and Rose and Spitz and Peck. I've seen way too many 'iffy' reviews on J and R and a few on Spitz and Peck. I know there is always going to be one bridezilla out there that gives a bad review to every vendor because some brides are insane (no one on this board though ) and no matter what a vendor does they are never happy but when several mixed reviews pop up I shy away... there are other vendors out there.

So who is taking pictures there? Do you have any shots you'd like to get. I'm planning on going and scoping the place out. I'm worried if it rains will we be able to get enough unique indoor shots.

Re: WATERMILL thread

The Watermill actually has an IN house florsit. When we booked we got a tour of the florist area( its right by the offices) They do all the arrangements for like the front door areas etc...you can actually use them for flowers for things like the cake. I havent called them yet though.

Oh, yes that makes sense about the florists. I saw that room too. Speaking of, I have to get it in the contract that no lillies can be used in the public flowers that day. Me, my FH and family are highly allergic. They didn't have them out when we booked but during one showcase... ugh... we had to leave it was unbearable.

Hey Watermill Ladies!
I just wanted to post about the upsetting menu discrepancey. We all have the Prestige Menu. I don't think anyone has a different menu. I was told by many people that you need to negotiate 'extras' before you sign the contract. Once you sign, they don't have to give you anything additional. You alerady put your John Hancock on the contract. We were able to negotiate an extra pasta at the pasta station as well as the coffee and cordial bar with dessert. As far as not getting the 'add on' booklet yet, they don't send that out until it is time to pick your menu. I got mine by accident. They had me down as 11/5/04, when in reality my wedding is 11/5/05! I wasn't worried, I knew it was just a mistake, but of course I called to make sure and it was a type-0 in their book, I am booked for the Astor on 11/5/05. I got the 'add on' book in september. So my guess is that you get is about 2 months before the wedding. As far as the chair covers go - big waste of money - unless you have it to spare of course!

Re: WATERMILL thread

Hi everyone - I am getting married at the Watermill on 11-11-05! I am really excited about this place. It's so elegant (and my fiance loves the bar in the Vanderbilt Room!) and I've heard nothing but good things about the food. Did any of you request a tasting after you booked?

My fiance loves the bar in the Vanderbilt room, too. It's one of his favorite things about the place! LOL

I didn't request a tasting. Will they do one?

Jaibird -

We were told that if we wanted one, we should request one soon after we booked (like within a month or two). We booked with Watermill about a month ago, so we need to get out act together!

We were told that we can do a tasting to decide on our menu.

Re: WATERMILL thread

They asked you to book the tasting that far in advance? I thought you booked and came in for your tasting when you were ready to pick your menu.

I better get moving on this as I booked at the end of July.

I was told that they DO NOT do tastings. We got some samples of stuff when we booked the place, but that was it.

The $1 for flowers is for flowers all over the hall. They do set up a lot of flowers in the bathrooms, the entrance, on all the tables lining the hall and for the cocktail hour they do a rose in a bowl ( floating) .

Re: WATERMILL thread

I do not have a flower charge but since I am having my cermoney there they probably rolled that charge into the ceremony fee of $400. With some of the other halls I looked at there was a ceremony fee but it included only chairs... everything else you had to provide. I would have spent way over $400 for the same amount of flowers.

I wasn't given any samples when I booked, and I was told that they don't really do tastings. I am not that worried, though, because their food has such a good reputation.
But it kinda would be nice to know for myself, ya know?

Re: WATERMILL thread

I never had a charge of $1 pp on our contract for flowers.

My wedding is a sunday night and it starts at 7pm.

Hi everybody...
I asked about a tasting and was told I could have one, but it sounded kind of shady. I doubt I could even coordinate a time to do it right now, we are so busy.
I missed the last showcase at the Watermill in September. Does anyone know if they are having another one?
Thanks! Have a good night!
