I think it varies on the day and time of year you are getting married. The BM may also be flexible with lowering the minimum if you ask. They lowered the minimum for us.

Re: WATERMILL thread
I replied to the other thread but as for minimums it does depend upon the day, time and time of the year. I don't think any other Watermill bride has a minimum or price as low as mine. My minimum (upstairs) is 100 people but keep in mind we are getting married on a Monday (July 4th so it doesn't matter, it's like a Sunday) at 11 am. That's probably the cheapest day during the high season. I have the prestige menu.
FM me if you want price pp.

Re: WATERMILL thread
I have not used her. I think you have to do your research to figure out if samantha or any other vendor for that matter is giving you a good deal. Good Luck. BTW, it may be more convenient for you to use her, since i was told she can pretty much handle everything for you.

Re: WATERMILL thread
i met with samantha initially, and she is nice, but she doesn't do anything i can't do myself, you know? she has great invite books and some nice favors, but all i did through her was the white bridal mailbox for gifts. she kind of wants you to use her, but i stood my ground and wasn't pushed into it. i know she thinks i should do menu cards through her, but i'm going back to my invite person for them.
i am going to call bruce next week rather than wait for my letter telling me it's time to come in for the menu....i'm excited!!! i popped in a few weeks ago for directionals and bruce ran into us in the foyer and invited us up to chat about where we're at. that was nice!

Re: WATERMILL thread
I was there last Sunday...Spoke to Bruce, it was empty so me and my mom walked around, really looked at all the rooms, tables etc..we had fun!!
Bruce said that we would get something in Mid January to come in late January for MEnu's..
Lana- should be around the same time for you too...Let me know what he says when you call.
Its getting exicting right?

Re: WATERMILL thread
so excited!!! i could wait for the letter, but i was advised that since i'm doing menu cards i could call them sooner! hey, how are the chairs? i'm not getting the covers; they're nice as is, right?
how do they know how to set your stuff up? meaning, photos---etc. i guess i will find out!!!! i LOVE that place!!! anyways, we are arriving early for photos--about 6:30--so i guess i can make sure it's right. our cocktail is at 7:30.

Re: WATERMILL thread

Re: WATERMILL thread
I got much better deals overall by NOT using the house vendors. Then again I'm also having a smallish wedding so I wouldn't be spending as much anyway.

Re: WATERMILL thread
You dont get any deals with the house vendors. You are merely getting their reputation which is backed by the watermill. You should do research on each one. I'm using the DJ and limo company they recommend but i chose a different photographer and florist.

Re: WATERMILL thread
I went to see/called a lot of dj's. A lot of them wanted to tell me what they think I should have. We wanted a basic package... no lights, mc, giveaways, not our style and we are having a daytime wedding.
I loved Vinny from High Voltage. He LISTENS to YOU and what your needs and wants are and he is VERY reasonably priced because he doesn't have a wedding markup. He charges the same for a wedding as any other party.
I'm getting ceremony music, cocktail hour and reception all for $800. I booked him in August for next July.
He also has other packages with dancers etc. Everyone of his packages is cheaper (usually by at least a few hundred dollars) than everyone else.
The second best dj company wanted $1300 to do the same for my day.

Of those of you who are having the ceremony there, are your guests allowed to throw anything?
If so what?

Re: WATERMILL thread
My minimum is 200. We talked him down. We felt we were to many for upstairs to be comfortable but not enough people for downstairs. So we talked him down to 200. We are a saturday night in september

Thanks..I'm wondering if my count gets up to that amount about asking to switch rooms. Since I know that room is empty on my night.
Wonder if it would cost more?

WOW and you talked them DOWN..200 seems like WAY too much for upstairs.
I counted the tables last week and it looked like no more then 13-14 fit comfortably..at 12 person max a table ( 14 looked sooo crowded) thats like 156-165 people. where would 200 go? LOL
