Just thought I would share our experiences so far with planning our honeymoon!
DH and I decided to go to Greece and do some island hopping! At first we thought to use a travel agent, if only to help us book a flight. But in the end, we went the complete diy route. We found better deals by making the calls to Greece or emailing the hotels ourselves, and buying the tickets online.
First thing we did was book the flights. We found direct flights through Olympic Air on Cheaptickets.com!
Next, we booked our hotels for Santorini.
We are spending 6 nights total on Santorini, in Oia. After Santorini, we are headed to Naxos. For the gorgeous beaches!
And after Naxos, we are headed to Mykonos for 2 nights! I don't have any fun pictures of the hotel we are staying at there, but it's run by this wonderful couple, who's dog is always running around saying hello to the guests.
I can't wait for September 2nd!!

that is great!!! u are going to have a BLAST! Santorini is absolutley breathtaking and Naxos has some of the most beautiful beaches.

So far we have booked all the hotels and the flight for a lil less than 4k. We are thinking after meals, ferries, car rentals, fun money. We are going to be just under 5k

Great choice.... We went to the Greek Islands for our HM as well. Santorini and Mykonos are sooo beautiful.... You will have a great time!!! Take lots of pics.

We did Naxos and Santorini too and had a fantastic time!
A couple of suggestions: While in Oia, it's just a short walk away to the next village over, Finikia. You can also hop off the Fira-Oia bus there. There is a restaurant at the Hotel Finikia (on the main road) that was AMAZING and inexpensive. I had mussels Saganaki (tomatoes, feta, ouzo) that was out of this world.
On Naxos, since you will probably be tired of Greek food by then, go to the Picasso tex-mex restaurant in the main town. Also, if you can, rent a car and take a drive to the mountain villages.

I went on a cruise from athens this past march that went to Rhodes, Mykonos, Patamos and Turkey. We were in athens 1 day, then the cruise for 4 days then athens again for 2 days. We had a great time and it wasn't alot of money. With our flight, hotels and cruise it was about $3500 for both of us. All food was included on the cruise and all breakfasts were included at the hotels. We used friendly planet tours. Just a thought for all of you who didn't book anything yet. Here is a pic of FH and me on top of the Acropolis in Athens =)
