OMG I sometimes wonder how FH and I ended up together! We can't even agree on china and stemware! We started registering in MARCH and we still cant agree! Last night I just gave up! We're going to have holiday meals on paper plates! He likes these busy busy busy designs on glasses with lines and etching and bows and trims and I like much much simpler designs! He likes ivory china with flowers upon flowers and I like white china with simple trim! I KNOW I have a tendency to be too plain, so I thought maybe we'd meet in the middle, but we can't! My aunt would say forget what he says just get what you like! But I KNOW him - every single time he would eat on them or drink from them he will say. 'You know, I never really liked this design' UGH!
At this rate, how will we ever agree on anything? I'll like the name John and he'll like the name Xanadu! I am just so frustrated!!
I just had to get that off my chest. Thanks for letting me vent!

Re: We can't agree!!! (FH vent long sorry!)
My FH and I are the epitome of 'opposites attract'....we agree on NOTHING...that's why we decided that when it comes to registering: anything to do with electronics (ie..toasters, microwaves, blenders etc....) he picked out - and anything to do with 'patterns' (ie...bedding, china etc...) I would do... It worked out pretty well.....even though he picked out a $300 cappucino machine (that I edited after of course)

I guess I am one of the lucky ones...My FH and I have the same taste. We haven't registered yet, but when we do he told me I can choose what I like. One less thing to worry about!

i had the same prob with the china and i will have to say that in the long run it wont matter - esp about the china- we ended up choosing the pattern that I liked and now he loves it

I have to confess that I am really bad when it comes to this We decided that FH would pick out the casual china, I would pick the formal. We agreed right away on the formal (Lenox Courtyard Gold) but he chose this horrible brown casual china. It was SO masculine, looked like the plates should read meat & potatoes only! I swear he chose it just to drive me crazy After going back and forth, and knowing he would not give up his 'choice', I told him that the pattern was discontinued and we picked another one.
I know, horrible. But everytime I use my plates (which is everyday), I am so happy I did it.
I have found w. my FH that if you take him shopping more than 2 times for registry stuff, he gets bored and loses interest. Maybe if you keep going back (on football Sunday) he will lose interest and let you pick out the pattern. Good luck!

Don't even bother stressing over something as petty as dishes. I've actually learned that in some cases, THERE IS NO COMPROMISE. Our agreement was whoever does the majority of the cooking (ME) gets to serve up the food on whatever plates they choose.
FH HATES the plates I picked out. TOO BAD. If I have to hear him ***** about it, make gagging noises and roll his eyes for the rest of my life, I really could care less.
I LOVE my plates and after I spend an hour in the kitchen, I'll be serving up the food with a smile.
BTW, same agreement goes for the person that spends more time cleaning the house. I'm picking all the colors for every room. The only room that he's decorating is the basement, because it'll be HIS office, his guy room and his home theater. He's in charge of keeping that part of the house tidy, he can do whatever he wants with it.

In I way I am jealous of you I would love input from my FH but he really does not care about dishes, glasses, and settings.. When I show him something I get 'thats nice' or 'what do we need that for'.. I would love for him to just once disagree and say I want this.. But I also feel for you it must be difficult wanting something and not being able to meet half way to get what you both want..
