We found a . . .
I am so excited! Sunday we went looking and found a house! We are close to finishing all the paperwork. The sellers accepted our offer after my agent argued for over an hour. This week we have been signing, signing, and signing more paperwork. We had our house inspection and everything is in great condition (except a couple of things they agreed to fix.) I can't wait. We will not be able to move until June 1, 2002 as they are building a house and it was part of the deal to rent-back to us. We will be closing by the end of March as of right now. My only question is that we actually move on the 2nd of June...do you think June 1st for the cut-off date of RSVP's is too early for our July 4th wedding? I wouldn't think so because it is mostly very close family and friends that will be aware of the situation. Just thought I would get your opinion. The reason it isn't going to my mom is that we are sponsoring the wedding. Thanks-

Congratulations...
Congratulations on your new house! What an exciting endeavor...best wishes that everything continues to go smoothly. Regarding your invitations - that's a tricky one. First, I don't think that June 1st is too early for your RSVP date. Typically, the RSVP's are due about one month prior to the wedding day. However, if you are planning for June 1st b/c your mailing address will be changing, you need to keep in mind that not everyone will be prompt in returning your RSVP, and you will have MANY responses that will arrive after June 1st. So you have some choices - either have your invites printed with the return address of your new house; or use your Mom's address (doesn't matter that she's not financing the wedding); or make sure the post office has your correct forwarding address, so that any responses sent to the old address will be promptly forwarded to the new one after June 1st. Hope that helps! Good luck...

Congratulations How long and where did you look / buy? If you dont mind my asking. Regarding the RSVP's to be on the safe side I would have them go to your Moms. Just my opinion. Just in case there is a delay in the closing (not that it would ever happen). And to be sure the post office handles things smoothly.

Congrats!! How exciting!
Good Luck with everything, and I hope the closing continues to go smoothly! As for the RSVPs, June 1 sounds fine, but as already mentioned, you DEFINITELY will have people who don`t make the deadline. You might want to consider moving the RSVP date up by two weeks. I don`t think it would be the worst thing, and this would give you two weeks for the stragglers. But, of course, there will still be people you will need to call and check in with. But the main thing is you don`t want responses getting mixed up in the mail. Even if you leave a forwarding address to the new house, it will take a little longer to find you, and if you only leave yourself four weeks with the June 1 response date .. the responses that are late getting out may not find you in time for your cut off with the caterer. Eventhough your mom isn`t sponsoring the wedding, you could use your name with her address. This of couse takes away from the fun of coming home and running to the mail box each day to see who and how many responded. :D But, at least you know they will be going to a settled household. Good luck with whatever you decide!! And best wishes with the house!!!

To all
Thanks! It really is exciting! I am going to talk to FI and my mom and see what they agree too. I don't think the forwarding will be much of a problem...we have done it quite a few times. I do believe the owners will be out on time, they told me they can't afford triple rent as of the 2nd of June. If they still have a couple of things to move (boxes and such) I am not going to go crazy. As long as a majority is going to be gone. As for how long we looked...don't get upset...we signed our buying agent on 1/9 and found our house on the 13th and put the bid in on the 14th. They accepted the same night and then it is a matter of agreeing on certain things within the contract. I don't think anyone would be too interested in the neighborhood, lol, as we bought the house here in Buffalo, NY. We do live near the airport though!! ;)! The house is great and had been remodeled over the last couple of years. So, when we move in we will not have ANYTHING to do. The one thing I am excited about it putting together my wedding registery. Thanks again. Lisa, I will email you soon. Excite was bought out and just recently has allowed full access to my account! I didn't forget about you! lol! I WOULD LOVE to see pics!!! heeehee! :) Nancy

So happy for you
Nancy, I'm also a July 4th bride and will have the RSVP around June 1. My fiance and I are paying for the whole wedding, but I'm putting my mother's address on the RSVP cards......(in case we magically find a house before the wedding). Congratulations.....so happy for you.Welcome New Vendors
